Isn't it a bit unnerving that doctors call what they do practice? I mean they supposedly have over six years in school after high school so why is it called practice?
Did you even bother checking a real squedule of a student studying in there anyway?
Part of the training is when there are about 15 people in the room looking at you getting messed with. They're learning.

A Doctor's Practice is just the name of the place where they receive patients.
A practicing/practising doctor is a doctor who is currently working in the profession.
I think that this case is similar to how "exercise" can be used as "to exercise your power".
