whats the difference between Staredit and Starcraft Campaign Editor?
Ehm... There is no difference.

There is no difference, its just the name. that makes people there somethnig different.
Well yeah, StarEdit is just the short term. "StarCraft Campaign Editor Network" just doesn't sound too good.
well thanks I thought there was some big difference but where can I find a download where you can place square tiles instead of the diamond things, and btw is it easier to make maps with squares instead of diamonds
so what im getting at is there is no difference between all these map makers because ive heard of something called StarForge too so im assuming no diff either lol
They're all editors for one thing: StarCraft Maps. Programs can do different things, have different interfaces, etc, but they're all for StarCraft mapping. Things that can do square terrain would include ISOM, StarForge, or SCMDraft2. Go ISOM if you want to use a conventional StarEdit or one of its forms to do the terrain. StarForge and SCMDraft 2 are programs in themselves.
Basically, all you need is Starforge and Xtra to make UBER maps. The combo of these 2 can make anything.
rolf!
thaTs what i did. used starforge and x tra im making a bound with it.
Its called Starcraft Campaign Editor. Did you ever wonder where the shortform came from?
Back when we didn't have funky editors (not even Xtra), we had to deal with the regular unimproved Starcraft Campaign Editor.
You'll notice it in your SC folder. Its called Staredit.exe. Thats where the shortform came from.
Heehee I dont even have any extra Editors, except XHackEdit, and it sucks...
It's basically this:
StarEdit, with several unplaceable and independent units, you can put buildings everywhere, can place units on any side and make hallucinated buildings. But the SC version doesn't work, just the SE.
Needless to say I only use it when I want to place (example) a Hydralisk on the Terran side.
