grr my x box is old and dusty ..
How do i clean it?? Do i bring it to a store or something??
Because sometimes .. well.. a lot of the time when im plying x box in the middle of playing my x box will freeze or a screen will come up and say your disk is either dirty or damaged or it will say you need a dvd playback kit to play this ... it does it with ANY game so dont say its the game thats scratched cuz i take care of my games and it will do this with a brand spankin new game..
HELP

I suggest you get that DVD Playback thing then.
It's probably some dust on your lens or on the laser.
uhhh
i have the dvd playback kit
and nice sig berr

is that the calculus? or higher?
Is it too risky to just open it and clean up some things?
I open the Xbox, And get the vacuum.
i looked that up before but i didnt have one of those screwdriver thingys.. hmm i could just not worry about it and w8 for the x box 360 to come out and buy that

I'd suggest not opening the Xbox and using a handkerchief and even less a vacuum cleaner.
A Vacuum cleaner can accidentally suck in some piece of electronics and then your'e screwed. You could also hit something with the tip of the vacuum and damage it.
A Handkerchief or any sort of similar material is not advisable because it can and most probably will create static electricity. This may create a spark because you are cleaning semi-conductors and conductors which can easily conduct electricity.
I suggest that if you do open your Xbox to clean it or remove the dust, buy one of those presurized cans that contain Dry Air or Air without moisture. It only costs around $15 USD and the reason it's better is because it won't create any type of static electricity or excessive moisture that may damage the electronics.
"Only"...
Sheesh. That can is done after 2 minutes...
i asked this on another forum and someone said

The drive lens is probably dusty or fogged up. I also have had the same xbox since it came out in '01. The easiest thing to do is clean the disc by either taking a very soft fabric and wiping it down, or you can go and buy one of those automatic disc cleaners those work really well. If you still have problems, then there is most likely something wrong with the disc drive altogether. Let me know if you are still having problems after trying the things i mentioned above.

i had one of those once but i used it all up.. and couldnt that create a bigger problem?? by making some dust go further in the x box??
I dont need to clean my Xbox.
Since i always take good care of it. I treat it as if it were my baby

i take good care of mine too have you had yours since x box came out?? i just never knew how to clean it

Nah. I got mine in december.

So it is pretty new. But soon i might have to clean it
Tip: Keep your consoles in a dust free environment and you won't have to worry about cleaning it.
I keep mine in a cabinet under my TV...

The PS2 to the left, N64 to the right. Right now it's not setup like that but thats generally how I store my consoles, I keep that closed when I'm not using them. They're never dusty, they never need to be cleaned.
You could use the good old "blow on it and hope it works" meathod. This is for people that have Gameboy, whenever a game screws up you just take it out blow on it, blow where you put it in and hope it works. Repeat.
Heh, I remember the whole "blow on it" thing from the good ol' days of the SNES and N64, sadly, disks don't take wonderfully well to hot, moist breath on them. This also applies to lenses, as I tried that on my oooold playstation's lens, and now it works worse than before. Canned air is the way.
u know dust is dead skin i bet u didnt know that

Dust is a mix of evreything floating around the house... So no, It just isnt peices of dead skin flying all around.
If it was true, We all would be eating 500 pounds of dead skin a year.
dust is a mix of mostly everything but it consist of dead skin
Some consoles just get dusty no matter what you do with it. Like my 4 year old ps2. Which wouldnt function as well, so Sony gave me a new one! Not sure what you can do with an Xbox.
And really, dont you read the label that says "IF YOU OPEN THIS MACHINE YOU WILL BE PWND BY ELECTRICITY!" I suggest... uh... Taking it to teh shop!?!
If it is the lens, get a lens cleaner. About $10, little CD with brushes on it, cleans it real good. If this has been said before, it's cause I didn't bother reading everything.
looks like it

the lens gets dirty no matter what if it gets scratched replace it thats what i always say
