Well, I made this map awhile ago. It was just sitting around, and I haven't edited it in awhile. So, I'm going Beta with it.

The idea behind this is, kill an enemy, two take its place. Eventually, this leads to a truckload of enemies. So, you pick either a Marine or Firebat and battle against the endless armies of Hydralisks. Of course, killing one gets you cash, which you can use to upgrade or buy units. Yeah, there's a mission too. Buy an SCV and bring a Psi Emitter to a beacon to capture it... capture all of them to win.

Basically, you can get everything else by playing the map. It'll make sense, provided you READ all the text the map displays at the start. If you have any suggestions or find any bugs, please let me know.

Version Beta002
» No more of the lazy burrowing hydras... they might burrow, but not in spawns, so there should be a lot less of those. wink.gif
» Hydras will fight until they have less than 50 during the mass. The remainder will die instantly and they will respawn a new crowd of Hydras.
» No more picking up the vespene cubes at teleporters
» Hopefully no more of the double unit selection when units are next to each other
» Gave stats and name to Unsieged Tanks
» Goliaths will repair cheaper and faster
» Added a Supply Depot at the upgrade base

I've been trying to beat this for a few months now. Most annoying map ever.

This is the best censored.gif map ever, if you think otherwise you are an idiot and should be burned at the stake please.

This Map > Überena

It's way more fun and challening, at first glance you will say that this map is stupid, but after playing it 2 or 3 times you get the idea.

I got to test numerous Alpha versions tongue.gif

I'm sure tons of people got to test it through it's production.

yea i tested it with moose a few times. The map isn't too bad, i just dont like it that much. it gets so annoying because theres just so many freaking hydralisks it gets impossible to even move to get some upgrades. you have to do damage to win, yet if u do too much damage, your only hurting yourself in the long run.
Report, edit, etc...Posted by chuiu on 2005-05-23 at 19:39:14
Not really, if you walk and not attack move the hydras usually leave you alone.
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Ultimo on 2005-05-23 at 19:39:34
You damage enough to kill them in two hits and get enough armor so that they have to take two hits to damage one.

OMG we ebat Hungry Hungry Hydras just 5 minutes ago!

Anyways it was really hard which is good because challenging is good.

In the end I had 1 bat, 7 rines with stim, range and 8 armor with 15 attack.

Now for the bugs.

1) If you attack a Siege Tank when you are too close to it for it to attack it will unsiege. It will also become a "Terran Siege Tank" with normal stats.

2) When the masses of Hydras come and your Civilian appears next to a Marine and Firebat there is a good possibility of getting both units.

3) After about 3 of the Insanely Lagre Hydra Masses, it will no longer spawn those 2 hydras for every 1 hydra killed. Makes the later parts of the game quite easy.

4) Sometimes the hydras will burrow all in one spot. Easy kills for Firebat once they unburrow stacked.

5) When going to the teleport beacon from the Upgrade area to the base, my SCV picked up the vespene box on top of the beacon.

6) After each mass hydras become dumb and just stand there. I think re-fireing the AI trigger should do the trick.

Now for the Analysis:

Begining of the Game: Pretty good. Not to hard so that new people can easily get the idea of the game. This pretty much determined who will own during the game and who will be begging for mins because they died.

Middle game: THis the hardest part, once the insane masses of hydras come by. It's quite hard to survive the first one since you usually have 1 unit, no stim and less than 4 upgrades on each armor and weapon. There are also many hydras everywhere so it's hard to upgrade, but thats good because it's challenging. This part is just right.

End of game : It's too easy because the hydras stop appearing and your units get very strong. I suggest from after a point in the game, instead of hydras you will start spawning Hunter killers.

That bug list is VERY helpful to me, I'm glad you typed it up.
1. Yeah, I might just center a location and recreate a Sieged Tank. Player 7 tends to angry when you attack it though, I wouldn't reccomend it.
2. I find that very weird because the Civilian should be removed AND you the trigger states you need to command at least 1 for it to fire.
3. That one is VERY weird, it should only stop the spawning during masses. My theory is the mass never ENDED because the "end" of a mass is dependant upon the number of Hydars left, and there will still over 220 on the map.
4. Yeah, I should do a reorder to get the lazy ones out every 10 seconds or something.
5. I thought I placed it so that wouldn't happen. I guess I'll have to disable doodad state on the powerups.
6. The AI DOES refire, but apparently sending everything on random suicide missions screws it up somehow. I'll have to come up with something creative, I have some ideas.

Hopefully I can make it bugless, and therefore, the difficulty I intended. tongue.gif

Why not just disable Siege Mode Research? Or does that not work on computers?
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Mini Moose 2707 on 2005-05-25 at 15:43:29
Usually it does. The computer is still able to unsiege when it feels like it, though.

There were no hydras. The whole map was left empty with no more hydras to kill.
Report, edit, etc...Posted by chuiu on 2005-05-25 at 17:52:12
Oh, there were hydras, trust me. They were just all burrowed and shit. Moose and Terrenblade can back me up on this.
Report, edit, etc...Posted by BeeR_KeG on 2005-05-25 at 17:55:37
Don't think so. After that large Mass, I went to upgrade, got an SCV and then I went to the middle of map. I grabbed the Psi Emiter and went through the entire map going from beacon to beacon and no Hydras unburrowed. Also all my allies(5) were moving through the map and there were no hydras.

I think someone saved a replay, you could look if you like. If you use hero tanks, they won't unsiege.
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Mini Moose 2707 on 2005-05-25 at 18:52:35
Thanks for that bit of info. If someone has a replay of that bug, please post it. Otherwise, you probably went to the Beacons without going to the spawn points. It would be rather gay if they spawned on the Beacons, no? tongue.gif
Report, edit, etc...Posted by BeeR_KeG on 2005-05-25 at 20:44:54
Yes it would.
Even though I know that I didn't run through all the spawn points, I know where they are and I'm pretty sure that you'd have to pass through at least one of them if you're goign through all the beacons.

Don't UMS Replays with Computer players screw up?

Not if you don't change speed.
