The Computer in a UMS game needs to be told what it has to do.

If you select the trigger Action "Run AI", depending on what Race and style you chose for the AI the Computer will act that way. Do put in mind that Run AI only makes the Computer act like if it was a Melee game.

You can use the trigger action "Order" to give orders to specific units like move, patrol, attack to locations.

The are seevral Tutorials on Computer AI's I sugegst you search them and read them because they have some valuable information for you.

From what I know you can't have a computer player in the same force as a human player, you just can't.

You can't in staredit. There's nothing preventing you in starforge of scmdraft, tho. It works fine in Starcraft, also

You don't need to run a "set to ally/enemy" trigger anymore, then? But sometimes I still find the computer players in my force ally themselves with the other force. Hmm.

No matter what in UMS, humans are unallied with computers and computers are allied with each other. No matter what forces they are in. You need to use triggers to set alliance.

I'm not sure if these ways work but you can set a trigger when a unit is at a spot it can change the alliance status. I have seen 'run AI scrip' 'set player to enemy here' and 'set player to ally here'. This might be a stupid question but does that AI work?
