No cd, playable. Can this work?
Not without changing the EXE. There are some files which StarCraft will always look to INSTALL.EXE on the CD to load, skipping patch_rt, BrooDat, StarDat and whatever MPQDraft mod you might be happening to run. These basically include dialog BIN files, and the only way to patch them is using a StarDraft type patcher, which doesn't exist for 1.12b anyway. Well, not yet, the AutoModder that I'm going to be creating will run using the same technology as StarDraft did. I think.
Aww nuts, I wish it does exsist, but does it? Can somebody make this? I'd be happy.

It can be used against StarCraft's End User Licence Agreement so I don't think that such a program should be distributed on this site.
Something like that would be illegal for sure. Pretty much, i could give my SC CD to 9897 people and all 9897 could be playing SC single Player at the same time.
But making it is ingenius.
But it's just like robbing a bank. It could be an ingenius plan, but it's still illegal.
You could always make an image of the cd in a .iso and mount it as if it was a cd drive thing. That's what I've been doing for the last year.

I recently found my long lost SC cd though, not that I need it
