this was part of my b-net forum anyways
i have a map that i started like last year but never got to finish, when i want to start a new map or finish this one map that i've been working on the computer wont let me save my maps.
its said sumthing like "could not open file (file name) for open
then i just started to save my maps on a floppy disk, but when i try to copy my map from the floppy to the c:drive it said sumthing like "disc protected" sumthing about that. So i cant test my maps myself or even finish my other maps with saving it to a floppy disk.

Either the lock is on and you do not know it, or the floppy is corrupt.

the lock isnt on for sure and its not corrupted, im able to save my maps on just not save my maps to the computer
ADDITION:
ok well i founf out that i cant even delete any of the sc maps, when ever i try to delete or save its saids "Cannot open "file" Access is Denied Make sure the disk is not full or write-protected and that the file in not currently use. eerrr so confused.

you now what i also have this problem. But i found kinda a way to by pass it. All i do is save as replace file then a error will come up. But it actully saves it. test it on b.net and it works. SOme times.
But this only happens on older maps like Flip monkey says.

also another. It may be if you have the map open in sc it won't let you save it because it is in use.

The reason why it does it is because
A.) You have a .Wav Files
B.) If you have a .wav file and you open the map with StarForge and you open SCXE again then save, it wont save because SF took out that .wav
C.) To by pass that, reopen sf save the map, then open it on SCXE again.
D.) if you dont want to keep doing this then "put in the .wav's last"

I had this problem but i couldn't save my maps on my computer at all, but all i did was restart the computer and it was fix

I highly doubt what I'm going to say is going to work but...
Ctrl Alt Del. Close all processes you know don't need to be run. Obvious ones are .tmp files.

I guess I misread the first post. My solution will fix your "cannot open the archive for writing" problem. As for deleting/moving/copying the file, make sure that it is not open in any program, including SC. Even if you have it selected in one of the dialogs, that counts as opened.

even when it gives you the cannot open error, its being saved but it just makes that annoying pop up thing.

i still cant do anything, the only thing i could thing of y i cant save delete or copy anymaps is because of what my dad did to my settings in this account. On his account am able to do anything save delete copy and even play b-net. That just my guess.
