A 1v1 "island" map. This is my first attempt at a 1v1 map in a long time, and my first time ever using the ice tileset. What do you think?

edit: I should add that it is rocky snow on the sides, and mogul in the mains.

edit: fixed the pic >.<

EDIT: As soon as gmail starts working again, I'll upload the final version.

Ack, too many start locations. Where are the two spots in which the players start off?

I fear the gameplay beeing to static on maps where you pretty much have "your" half of the map for free. It is beautiful, but possibly we get money-map like gameplay.

Why would each player let the other guy get his entire side?

Hmmm... I'd have to disagree with panschk because with open spaces it's easier to destroy an expo, so i dont think that expo takeover would occur

well I may be wrong, but look ar following scenario: PvP, both players play a mostly goon based game and scout well. Let's say the game is quite even until midgame when both players have 1 or 2 expos up and a big number of units. I imagine it beeing very hard to attack the other without losing more than you kill. Only the two expansions in the middle don't have an owner by default. Now worst case scenario, both players get one of these. Of course carriers are an option, but they are countered by goons+psi quite well. So pretty much it is a situation where attacking is only going to bring disadvantage. Tell me if I did a mistake with this piece of theorycraft, and I know very well, that 99% of the games will not get stuck like this (Skill gap is too big in many games anyway)

ADDITION:
or other scenario: tvz pvz zerg opts for a large number of well upgraded hydralisks patrouilling his half of the map. Huge massdrops are so risky and dropships are not for free, too. Even though you will not win by just camping, you could manage to not lose at least.

Zerg would be stupid not to open with mutas since there is a cliff over the mains (mutas make it easy to counter drops, and the cliff makes harass so much easier).

pvp: A good toss would make annoying use of reavers to screw with the spread-out expos, but that scenario is at least feasable.

ADDITION:
This map is basically done now. I'll release it soon.

I don't say it's the best way to play like that. Anyway, we'll see how it plays by...playing^^
