OK I am working on my Pentagramdefence map that willbe open beta as of midnight tonight and I wa adding one of my personal features :Teleporting. Basically what happens is, everytime you build a certain structure ( a forge for me) it replaces it with a Flagbeacon. Then, you use the "Place COP" feature to move it to anwhere, and eveyrone on the beacon gets moved to that location and then the beacon is removed. Well, this works for exactly 10:00 Game seconds (not real seconds) because of the nature of the Flagbeacon and how is was meant to be used. Well, after those 10 minutes are up, "Place COP" no longer works becuase that was the way CTF was to be played. So, my question to you is:
How can make it so the flag beacons don't lose their "Place COP" fuicntion or how can I reset it so that it will work indefinitely?
Things I have tried:
Mostly becuase I was testing it alot I used this; Repleacing the current FBeacon with a new one. -(didn't work)-
Things I am considering:
Changing out the Flagbeaons with a Flagbeacon of another race and then going back to the old one.
Please Help
You cannot remove the flagged status of flag beacons after that amount of time. You will need to think of another method.
There isnt another method. Come one there must be some way of reseting it?
I'm sure there is another way for this to work. Did you check tutorials? Becuase i think i have seen somthing like it but not exacly i will try and find out where i saw it. But dont' get your hopes up

I'm getting the feeling that the flag beacon's ability no longer works after 10 game minutes, regardless of how long the beacon has actually been in the game. I don't think there's much you can do to change that.
So removing and re-creating didn't work, eh? You could try to make a trigger than will automatically place it (having not played the map at the beta test with you guys, I'm not sure if you even can do this) at some random spot on the pentagram.
Heimdal, it does work past 10 minutes. SoftWarewolf(U) made a defense called Beacon Defense which required that the player place bunkers using the "Place COP" feature on a flag beacon. The game lasts more than 20 minutes, and you're able to place beacons the entire time.

That is correct. We did extensive research after my Place COP experimental map was made. There is absolutely no way unless you find some way to mod it.
SoftWareWolf refreshed the beacon quite often in "Beacon Defence"; I remember playing it and being annoyed that the beacon kept being deselected.
He recreated the beacon at the same spot in a method like this:
- Move all men at 'beacon' to 'outofthewayplace'
- Remove all beacon at 'beacon'
- Create 1 beacon at 'beacon'
- Move all men at 'outofthewayplace' to 'beacon'
Also, a full game of Beacon Defence lasts 610 game seconds, or just over ten minutes (without lag

). A flag is created at your beacon at 10 minutes, and you can't place the COP any more after that. Shortly afterwards, you win the game.
Oh really? I remember it being a lot longer... maybe its just because it takes forever to watch that damn SCV run around the track.
So basically no matter what you can't place a beacon after 10 minutes even if its recreated? (this totally messes up things for my 1 Unit D map now...)
Yes that is correct. Why does everything need confirmation

Why can't people just accept it?
If you don't believe us, then test it.
Well I misunderstood at first. I thought you meant that a beacon will not automatically create the flag after not being placed for 10 minutes.
This is why I don't like beacons. Why would Blizzard do that is what I'm wondering.
Flag beacons were created for CTF games. People get to place their beacons anywhere on the map (basically).
Well, lets all thank blizzard for making a crappy flag beaon system that isnt flexiible
I wonder if you could mod flag beacons. Make it so they can place over any terrain, any fog, anywhere, any time. Or maybe modify nydus canals to work without creep, and not require visions or valid terrain even.
I could make a killer gunner system with that.

Lol, that would be fun, but It would be just as cool as centering a location on a scanner sweep.
Suppose the ability disappears after the 600 game seconds cause of the flag. Why not use a hyper trigger and put:
Player: player x
Conditions: Always
Actions: Remove all flags at location x for player x
Wait 0 milliseconds.
Wait 0 milliseconds.
etc.
Will that work?

And while we're at it, let's all thank Blizzard for a crappy game thats 7 years old and we still play. Seriously, you people need to shut the hell up and leave blizzard alone.
Give him a break chu, he just spent a long time working on a feature he just figured out is impossible to make pratically.
I didn't know this so if I tried to do something with it, then it turned out that this didn't work, I'ld be disapointed to.

Now that would be cool.
-Stupid Suggestion-
Change the countdown timer? Might (ya... might) work...
Its an internal 10 minutes that the beacon runs off of, so countdown timer is no go... eh.
Is that what you're talking about?
Carl, can you make Pentagram Defense only 10 minutes long then? Or have you already found a remedy (or a new system) to make beta testing effiecient over at BlizzSCUMS?

Ya... i meant the countdown timer, not the internal 10 minutes... don't think we can change that now, can we?
Hey... I've just thought of this, but what about telling everyone to play in game speed 'slowest'? Or will that still not work?
