Staredit Network -> UMS Assistance -> Placing Dark Swarm and Disruption Web
Report, edit, etc...Posted by dd479 on 2005-06-05 at 17:32:06
I was wondering...

I have a trigger that goes like this:

Condition
Player 1 brings at least 1 unit to Location 0.

Action
Create 1 Dark Swarm at Location 1 for Player 12.
Move all unit for Player 1 at Location 0 to Location 2.
Preserve Trigger.

The thing is, it doesn't work, and I have no idea why. Same thing with disruption web. It just plain doesn't work. Any ideas?

PS What does disruption web specifically do anyways? I know dark swarm reduces accuracy to practically zero, but what about disruption web? Does it prevent ground units under it from doing ranged attacks? Ranged AND melee attacks?

Unless I'm really out of it, you can't create Dark Swarms or Disruption Webs using triggers. Disruption web negates any attacks of all units under the web.

You cannot create xtra units such as Disruption Web/ Dark Swarm.

You have to create a corsair for an computer player and "Run AI Script At Location" for that computer player. The AI Script is "Cast Disruptions Web Here" then insert the location.

Make sure D web is researched and the energy needed is set to zero and the corsair is within range of casting.

Or you could PREPLACE Disruption webs, I think its under protoss' '*' or 'xtra' or something.

Disruption web makes all ground units (range or melee) under it stop attacking.

Hope that helps

Edit: Um, DT_BK posted at same time =P

Just preplace them somewhere, then use the move command rather than the create command.

Even the Move command with Disruption Web and Dark Swarm are weird.

Dark Swarms can't be moved, period. Disruption Webs can be moved, but not stacked on top of one another unless cast by a Corsair.

And correct me if I'm wrong but dark swarms and disruption webs that are preplaced will never disappear. I'm not sure if you can remove them with triggers, either.

Not sure about Dark Swarms but preplaced Distruption Fields can be both moved and removed with triggers. Center location also can apply to DF.

Though, this is already known right, wasn't there a disruption web defence or something...

Well that was enlightening. A few more questions:

How can I move Disruption Webs? I've tried the standard teleport action but it doesn't seem to work.

Using the teleport, the give, and the order commands, can I move a scarab fired by a computer controlled reaver to a location, give the scarab to the player, and then have the scarab attack to a different location?

Is there any way for one to place a dark swarm at a certain location without preplacing them?

After moving them, they will only attack when giving the Patrol AI order. They will need to be computers if they are to run an AI.
