ok stright to the point!
Problem:
Tried almost everything to get my internet working.Comp will NOT talk/connect to the router, which the router connects to the cable and that to the internet
How it happened:
Comp froze while playing Halo Demo Online, then restarted and then internet dont work!
Happened 6/5/05 betwin 3:30-4:30 just restarted it and went downstairs to the bathroom and watched tv.
Tried:
The old off and on thing - nothing
Reseting the router - nothing
Turn off and on every cable/router/comp connected - nothing
System recover - nothing
Change to static - Nothing
Charter - no help....
Specs:(My comp)
Dlink router 604
Cable
Charter Com.
2.8ghz
768 mb of ram
OS: Windows XP
Now:
Ip changed to 164.254.0.100 from 192.168.0.100
Have to uses Mom's comp to go online, sorry but its too crappy!!!
Unable to repair,or check status. If repair gives error: Unable to renew ip address
My unlce dose not know if its etheirnet port problem or program error....
Trying to get a new etheirnet port...
My mom's comp spec:
400mhz
256 ram
OS: Windows ME
I checked the Events viewer and they don't show what might be server errors or warnings...
I also did virus and ad-ware scan and defragment - nothing
Sorry too much valuble stuff to reformat drive
So who here can help me??!?!?!?!?!?! please!!!

He could be using another computer.
Sometimes my internet just doesn't work for no reason at all, hopefully that's the case with you. Maybe your router blew.

Anyways i think its safe to say that youre screwed. Try calling your isp or something. If all that other stuff didnt work i dont know what will.

Ya I did! and they didn't help much!
Tell them to come over and fix it or else you will find a better isp. ;P
i had this exact problem. the guy that fixed it said that we had the password and all the info to get online saved on the computer and when we switched to the router it didnt have the info and kept giving us errors when it tried to auto logon. the guy inputted all of the data into the router so that it could connect to the internet and it worked.
