I been playin Sc since it came out, but it wasnt till the last 2 years that I discovered the Use Map settings maps and began toplay those. My favorite maps are the Diplomacy maps and I been playing mostly those the last few months.
Anyways, my issue is that the Diplomacy Super Gun map I wanted to see about fixing a few issues with the map and maybe improving some of the dynamics of the map but its protected so I cant edit it. I really dont have the time to start from a very old version of diplo that isnt protected and rework it into the SG map and then improve it, since I'm working 2 jobs already. I'm not trying to steal any credit for the work fromthe pervious designer or anything but I cant do anything with the map as it is and i dont know of anyway around that. My guess is there is a way around it that is most likely a secret to the people who make the map editors ect, and i'm sure they have a tool to open such maps.
I dont know if any of you can help me with this but I'd like to try and make it happen. I just want to be able to have more fun while playing SC, and sinmce I havent seen any updated versions of the super gun map floating around over the last 7 months I figured I'd give it a go myself, but like I said I got this protection roadblock. Anyways thanks for readin, let me know what I can do.

Don't ask to unprotect maps. Even if you are not "stealing" the map. And people that make the protection programs don't have a special thing that can unprotect them.
What kaboom said. And also, if the maker protected it, obviously he didnt want anyone to edit it.
Or you could remake the map yourself being the MapMaker you are

Try contacting the creator of the map.
If the Original Creator is no longer active on b.net to the point where their account has been deleted, it should be fair game to open maps for ppl who arent going to be taking credit for the work.
Or you can try and contact them via email.
