It really is saving, but just gives an error. I only got that after opening a map in StarForge. Make sure you back up your map. Then reopen the map in StarForge and save it, and the bug should be corrected.

Moved to Staredit Help.

I'll tell you how to repair this. Make sure your map isnt open... Right click the map... Properties... UNcheck "Read only". Hope this works rolleyes.gif

One of my maps was doing that, I had heimdal fix it. I think it was a mix of SF and editing triggers then closeing out of it rather than hitting OK. Anyways it proboly actually does save the map even though it gives you the error.

Try asking for help here http://x-boxnight.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=7&st=0 You will proboly need to email the map to heimdal or something.

I tried saving my map and it got that error where it can't read it... So I tried saving it as another name, but the error was still there. When I looked at my maps folder I was surprised to see both my original map and the other name I saved it as there. This happened when I was using Starforge and Xtra at the same time of course.

Did you Save As CHK File (Raw Scenario) ?
If you did, do what Volt said.. Don't save it as
CHK File (Raw Scenario). Thats what Bliz used
on their campaign. but its not compatible for
Battle.Net. You can't save it either. They are
actually hiding their scenario format. so you wouldn't
be able to find it that easily. Ok Let me give you a hint
MAKE BACK UPS!!!

Has anyone even bothered trying what I said? I've had maps like the ones in this topic and that's how I fixed them. -_-

Wow thats weird I never expected something so simple to fix that.

Ummmm Sorry... It was Check Read Only... If you save it as CHK file it will auto uncheck, makes it uncompatitable for BW to open it.
CHK Files dont do any good. You can't even make it protect... Which isn't very nice. I have raw experiance biggrin.gif

I just found out how to fix it.

HOW TO FIX

This error is caused by Starforge. If you exit using the top right X, Xtra will read the file as "write protected". Heres how to fix.

1. Open up starforge.
2. Open your map. Theres a possibility that errors will occur (it happened to me). You should be able to press "yes" or "ok" to get past it, and your map will load.
3. File > Save.
4. File > Exit (NOT THE TOP RIGHT X).

There. Your map is how it was. Your wavs might need reimporting though closedeyes.gif

Heimdal needs to slow down a bit with the features I think wink.gif

I still can't manage to cause the error on purpose. Did you ever try to cause this error by doing this or is this just what you think you did. Also when you close with the X it gives you a save message did you click yes no? Tell me if you can cause the error in a new map. Nothing is a valid bug you can report unless you can purposely cause the bug again.

If you want to read more on this subject there is currently another thread about it at blizz forums
http://www.blizzforums.com/showthread.php?t=37934

Edit:actually some one just pointed out there what really causes the error, Its when you add wavs in SF, I just created the error on my map and im going to try to do it yet again in a moment

Well at Blizz forums some one pointed out what caused the error and Heimdal has responded.

QUOTE(Heimdal)
I've determined the cause of the problem, and, like you guys said, it occurs when adding wavs with starforge.

You will experience 2 errors, one when saving the map in SE/SCXE, and the other when opening it with StarForge.  It is actually SE that causes the problem, because it relies on the WAV section instead of the listfile to determine which files are sounds.  If you never save your map with SE, you will never have this problem.  After saving it with SE, you will get an error in StarForge, something along the lines of "Error extracting file" and then a bunch of gibberish.

The one adverse effect of this problem is that after saving with SE, the name of the wav in the map changes, so it will not be played unless you open the map with winMPQ and change its name back (or delete the wavs and re-import them).

This means heimdal is aware of the problem and it will proboly be fixed in next version.

Thats good. I never ever used Starforge to import my wav's because I dont trust the 3rd party editors yet.
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Lithium on 2004-03-30 at 15:53:23
Use StarForge v2.0
It's much better than older ones.
It may not delete the wav. or error them.

Use SCM Draft 2 Beta
It was better than StarForge, eventhough
its 3rd party editors, it was created to be
decent

Use ISOM
If you are advanced, and you know how to
use ISOM, you may. PS - This is little hard.
