Just curious. I loved the book, and the radio show and the T.V. series. However, the recent movie they did, was pathetic in comparison. If you havn't read the book, but you did see the recent movie, seriously, read the book.

Why? Because I hate people who make comments on things, yet they havn't seen the original version of it. It's like people who saw StarWars episodes I, II and III, saying they were great (or asking dumb questions, the movies were made in this order for a reason), when they havn't even seen IV, V and VI. By the way, don't read the previous if you don't want to hear my annoying little rant.

Yeah so, make a choice. I belong to the first option =D

3rd option ... sorta. I've always wanted to, I just haven't gotten around to it. I haven't even seen the movie or the tv series or radio series(didn't know about tv/radio).

I read the books, and saw the movie. I hear the radio show is better than both though, so I want to see that sometime.

I've read all the books and seen the movie. the series kinda slows down after the second one.

I read all the books and I saw the movie. If you haven't read it, please do, it's possible the funniest book series I've ever read.

Read like half of it last year.

The radio show was really good, but it stopped at about the first book. You could argue that some chapters in the book seem so utterly pointless, that a radio show zooming right through them makes it better, but he always goes back to those obscure chapters with ironic plot twists that make it all worth it.

It's long, but it's a lot of a good thing, it's not torture to read it. R&R is a thing of the past I guess =P

Thanks for replying =D

Read the book, saw the movie. Downloaded the radio show but haven't finished listening to it yet. I've never seen any of the Tv series, though.

I haven't, and I probably will, since a few people have suggested it to me. Whatever. I'm sure it won't be as good as Lord Of The Flies.

Just the movie; great comedy.

Ugh, I saw the previews for the movie and they looked like complete crap. Then again, it is a movie based on a book, which is usualy a bad formula...
Anyways, I had Mostly Harmless for several years now, tried reading it once, didn't care much for it, tried reading it again, finished it in a couple days, decided that I wanted to read the first, second, third, and fifth, which was extremely annoying since I don't know where any libraries are, and even if I did my mom wouldn't let me walk to them and wouldn't drive me to them, and I couldn't find it at Barnes & Nobles, then last year I went to my dad's home, he lives conveniantly near a library, I finished the first two books in the series so now I need the third and fifth.

Read 737/815 pages of the omnibus in a day.
I got a $20 gift card to Borders for my birthday so I bought the omnibus and some Key Lime cheesecake.

I read it, I thought it was boring, the movie was funny here and there, but they both pretty much sucked.

Just to be a jackass, I'm going to say you didn't understand the comedy in it, since the average prick doesn't understand the wit of The Simpsons either. The only reason I bring it up, is because you actually think the movie was better.

I said it was funny here and there because of how the depressing robot sounded, and the upbeat happy spaceship. They captured that in a good way which is the only part I liked.

Also I don't like the Simpsons either, it doesn't make me a prick, it doesn't mean i don't "understand" the jokes, it means I think they're stupid and bland.
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Chef on 2005-06-16 at 23:26:22
If you think they're stupid and bland, you don't get them. Guess what? The jokes aren't that some guy got hurt. I doubt anyone who thought the book was boring, could possibly get through it all. Whatever, it's not like I can expect much of people today.

Hitch Hiker's Guide to the Galaxy.

Rexy, I think your dynamic sig is broken, because it's been showing Blink 182 - I Miss You for the past 2 hours. Yes I cleared my cache and it still did that.

If you don't find irony funny, that's your problem. Since irony is pretty much the only form of comedy in books. That and cheap laughs.

Ummm... if you're generalizing two continents, yes, I'm from the Americas. If you mean the U.S.A., no. Even though all it would take was one click on my screen name, that was too much work for you. I'll just go ahead and draw the rediculous conclusion that someone too lazy to click a link on the internet, isn't going to get through 3 chapters of HHGG.

I'm not trying to be better than other people, I'm saying you're a jackass for watching the movie and then claiming you've read the book, when clearly you havn't. By the way, you meant than =D You're only enough to know you can't just sound out words =-O

You know what? I'm an asshole, whatever... you still don't get irony.

Wow I didn't find the Irony in the book funny, that means i'm a jackass who doesn't understand anything, according to you.
That's just stupid.

Or I was making a joke and I really didn't care where you live.

Read the quote "You're obviously too lazy to read one line on the INTERENET OMG!"

I'm not trying to be better than other people, I'm saying you're a jackass for watching the movie and then claiming you've read the book.
Claiming? I only "got" the movie because I read the book, the movie hardly explained anything and just went from scene to scene with no real blend in, and if you've been listening I didn't find any of the space jokes funny I only found those two robots funny.

If whatever means you'll stop posting that's good news. And I do get Irony, you saying that I don't is being aragont.
