The Most Terrifying StarCraft Hack to Date - Schwitzer

Any seasoned StarCraft player will be fully aware of the typical hacks that other players might use to compensate for their own lack of playing ability; namely, Map Hack and Stack Hack. These have been the source of great annoyance and unfairness to those who just want a legitimate game, but they pale in comparison to another, much worst hack.

Introducing what I'm going to refer to as the "Morph Hack".

In order to demonstrate the capacity of this hack, I will refer you to this replay download, which is hosted on ICantLose.com.

Watch the blue Protoss player, DeathKnight2004. Here's a list of things to watch out for:
3:00 - DeathKnight2004 pulls all Probes off mining and sends them to center.
3:30 - The first Probe mutates into a Mutalisk.
3:35 - Another Probe morphs into a Mutalisk. Notice that when the morphing is complete, DeathKnight2004 gains 200 minerals!
5:41 - Probes sent to DeathKnight2004's choke point.
6:00 - These Probes mutate into Extractors!
9:00 - An attack on blue destroys the Extractors, which leaves Depleted Vespene Geysers blocking blue's choke!
13:00 - Notice that blue uses the famed Stack Hack to make a cluster of Photon Cannons near his choke.
16:00 - Notice that DeathKnight2004's unit count only registers 20/80, which is counting his Protoss Probes - the Mutalisks aren't being counted (I'm assuming because blue had no Zerg buildings / Overlords, hence the null limit).

So there you go. That's everything I could see from the replay - drop me a line if I missed anything.

This is absolutely disgraceful, and I'm concerned that if this hack becomes mainstream we could see the StarCraft battle.net community reduced to something resembling that of the Diablo 1 community. This post was made for community awareness, as well as to try to nudge Blizzard into attempting to disable this sort of abuse.

I will not advertise how to exploit the game this way, and anyway caught posting such information on StarCraft.org or WarBoards.org will be permanently banned.

Lemme dig it up...

Report, edit, etc...Posted by Deathknight on 2005-06-20 at 15:16:42
That was different, this is different.

First, I only used this in comp stomps, you know, completely unfair games that have no point in playing except for a "free win" for all seven players.

Second, he is saying that this is disgraceful when people play on money maps and do comp stomps in the first place.

Third, it's not a hack, and I was using it for "fun". But now the fun has ended.

Do not question what it is, it's not a hack and I will not answer any questions relating to it.

Here, just because this is so damn long, I will just cut out the part where it says...
QUOTE(Starcraft Glitch Guide)
I used "hacks" during every game, I made a big fuss about bots, I also winbotted later on. My time on Battle.net was being wasted.

Go to:
http://www.staredit.net/gf/
click "Glitch Database"
then "S"
look for Starcraft and you will find the entire text of that up there.

EDIT:
Oh, I guess that took to long to find. He already answered here. Owell, this tells you where to find the Über DeathKnight glitch collection biggrin.gif

Yea, i know about DK and the hacks, for some reason, i dug up SEN's entire history last night. (well... not ENTIRE.)

PS- its a bug.

Pubbies could never be trusted anyway. Sucks that people are such scum that private ladders have to be created to ensure a solid community.

Oh yea I need to reply to Starcraft.org's comments:

KingKongsK says he tries to play comp stomps as best he can.
Well KingKongsK, it wasn't a matter of "playing well", it was more of a test with losers than anything.

Ksrugi says "with this stupid hack, what's the point in playing comp stomps?".
Well does a couple of games completely ruin all your comp stomping games?

Fronter says it's disgraceful for me to use this, but it's not disgraceful for seven people to mash a defenceless computer. And as most people think-- apparently it's a "hack".

Whiteknight thinks using a drop hack would be more fun than using this "tool".

Aquarian says I'm a loser. But I clearly won in that game.

blah1985 has no clue what he's talking about.

GAdmrilThrawn is absolutely wanting to take the WRONG actions. You know I didn't even think about winning, and I usually leave games after I kill the players and just leave the computer. He think's I'm a "noob" apparently. If I was, how could I make this? Oh yea, you owe me $5 now, please.

I'll make sure the same happens here on SEN.

Its more of a disgrace seeing how all those people who made comments, including the person who posted the News topic criticizing and saying bullshit without one drop of evidence about what they're talking about. I was about to register and say this last paragraph to them.

It doesn't matter what it is. All that matters is, it's worse than a hack and glitch because you can't stop it. The MOD could ruin everything in SC if it does indeed go mainstream.

I don't think people being uninformed and calling it a hack should be grounds for dismissing what they say. Those people quoted are indeed idiots, but this mod could seriously mess up serious melee games like 1v1's and 2v2's, instead of compstomps and money maps, which are already very bad, add this mod and everything just gets messed up.

I'm not against DK, much, since at least he can inform us about this, because some noobs pubs already have it. I'm against the mod in general.

It doesn't matter what DK does, it matters what happens if this thing goes public to the noobs and they ruin Starcraft on their own. DK told me it's possible to even create your own mod like this.

I think a lot of you can laugh at this since you mostly play UMS, but I think this would seriously affect the melee community.
Report, edit, etc...Posted by RexyRex on 2005-06-20 at 20:39:23
Sure is irrelevant seeing as 90% of us are UMS people.
10% of me cares, devilesk.

It'll destroy UMS faster than Melee. You just don't see it.

Maps will become unplayable as wierd units arise distrubing triggers. Everything will be highly unbalanced and bugged. Maps which rely on specific units will be destroyed, basicly with UMS you can't bend the rules as everything was carefully put into balance.

Melee people will just have a phase of "Morpher Hunter" when they go out and hunt "Morphers" and beat them or whatever. It could prove quite a challenge, but if the "Morpher" doesn't morph so early into the game, Melee people will ahev a pretty good challenge trying to beat them, then it will get boring.

1. I seriously doubt you were in Arch Angels (the only hack hunter clan I know of)
2. You can't hunt a morpher without cheating yourself.
3. The only challange will be the time it takes for you to realise you're wasting your time.

As long as there isn't an influx of this breed of cheating in ladders I play on, it won't make any diffrence to me. Otherwise the future of melee StarCraft will stay with games between friends, which is kinda limiting.

But I'm sure the ladders I like will survive.

On the UMS aspect, I don't think it will affect them too much. Maybe pubs, but you can always play people on this site. Because really, what kind of lamer cheats in a UMS?

If dk really cared about his record on starcraft. Just look at his recs. But then people will notice all the disconnects and think that he disconnects to not get losse. But they don't know glitch people bust sacrifice crashin sc many times to find glitches.

Kaboom, they don't care about how good his record is, they care about if they can find fair games.

Who cheats in a video game is the better question. And to answer it, alot of people do. Also, alot of B.net players are annoying assholes, and will do it to constantly ruin public games. It's just how some people like to BS on comp stomps. Trust me, you won't last long playing UMS games with your "friends", since most games you play rely on people on battle.net.

I wonder if this makes DeathKnight almost as famous as Boxer wink.gif
