since everyone always has to ask the same thing again and again

I'll use this thread to gather info and put it in this table: http://www.stormcoast-fortress.net/cntt/so...scmdraft/table/

If I got anything wrong or someone else posts wrong info feel free to update it.

For those of you going "OMG U HAVE TOO MUCH TIME ON UR HANDS", if you're using the proper tools, it takes a lot less time than it looks.

It's "organized" (typo).

ADDITION:
Organized... not "Orgaanized"

I wouldn't say X-Tra completely lacks square terrain. smile.gif

If you destroy the ISOM section then no, but I don't think there is a widely known method to place rectangular terrain on it other than screwing it up with Starforge. tongue.gif

Basically,we've learned that scxe has become obscelete besides the fact that some people prefer a guideline while doing triggers instead of the "complicated" SF and SCMD2 way.
( not me I love SF smile.gif );

You got multiple map views wrong. Starforge is the only program that can't do that.

whoops I must have had the wrong thing in the clipboard :/ cause I meant to have multiple maps no multiple views yes

Time ago there was an utility called ISOM that edited the isom section. I made some maps with X-tra using square terrain before SF was made.

Ok, so basicly, the the link: http://chuiu.com/table.html suggests that the best software is Starforge and SCMdraft2.

Right? confused.gif

It didn't really 'edit' the ISOM section. It replaced it with whatever you entered in. Which is why I said "unless you destroy the ISOM section" because thats pretty much what you're doing at that point. tongue.gif

You should view this one instead: http://www.stormcoast-fortress.net/cntt/so...scmdraft/table/

It's a lot more detailed. And it suggests that SCMDraft 2 and Starforge are two of the most useful.

Still you could call that some kind of "edit" tongue.gif

I still use ISOM...

Anyways, SCXE Special isn't 1px by 1px, its 3x3. (look reeeaaal closely, and/or take a screenshot and zoom in on it)

And StarEdit/XtraEditor has a function "Map View" where you can have multiple frames of the same map.

What is the difference between "Addons anywhere" and "Non-Neutral Addons"?
Report, edit, etc...Posted by chuiu on 2005-06-23 at 18:40:15
Add-ons anywhere means being able to place them anywhere on the map. On water, on cliffs, etc.

Non-Neutral addons means players can own them other than 12.

I thought I fixed that with staredit and multi map views, gah

You can add 'Autocomplete' for triggers/missionbriefings and SF let's you edit the unit/sprite/tech/upgrade trees to customize them by editing the data files with notepad.

ADDITION:
And about the string viewer, neither SF neither SCMD2 displays overlaps correctly ;P
Although I think that SF displays 1 overlap mark very accurately.

It's because they all display it in the same sized text box.

well if you use the old Isom tool you could place square terrain but not isometrical terrain

I dont even try to display overlap atm, since it depends on where the string is used etc.

Like SI said, if you use the ISOM program (outdated, btw). But if you do then you can only place rectangular terrain (1x2 tiles, not square) and you cannot place isometrical terrain after that.
