I am currently working on reviving an old favorite of mine and making a new Diplomacy type map. Now, I've seen the "new" ones and they haven't really added anything new to the series except some fluff and rebalancing. So the problem is trying to create a Diplomacy map without churning crap out of a cookie cutter.
Here's what I have:
(Just about nothing)
- Have the terrain. It's Europe. Surprise.
- Have the city triggers fixed, balanced and ready to go. There are 137 of them.
- Have the basic unit and building names done and ready.
- Have the basic framework done.
Here's my idea's:
Hypertriggers
- To change into specials quickly
- To use the dropship spellbook
Dropship spellbook (Perhaps)
- Alliances and donations
- To choose a government
Governments
- Yield bounces per turn and maybe other things
- Need ideas for this!
Specials
- More along the lines of research
- Takes time/money to develop them
- Again, need ideas!
Multiple game types (Perhaps)
- Choose countries
- Choose provinces
- Begin with small outposts
- No research
That's about all of my ideas. I need comments and ideas! Please help me make this Diplomacy the best that there is.

Kinda seems like you have it all down already!! If i think of any ideas i'll share them with you, though. OOO i know. one thing i have a problem with are people who ally in game lobby. Maybe make it so you have to send a unit (or an "diplomat") to the other base, and then you can request an alliance, or a money trade, or w/e. I dunno...
That makes alot of sense; in order for an allience, you have to first know where the country is and have someone there to propose it. Thanks for the idea.
Different times and different races? Maybe you could choose the Barbaric age and have zerg units, or Modern Times and have terran units, or perhaps The Future with 'toss units?
No thanks. I'm pretty hard set on the 1 race. There are other maps that have that that I don't think are very good.
Sounds good.
Anyway, this is what I got.
I've got a couple of friends like 6, they play diplomacy all day.
Some of them suggested to me that I should make a good diplomacy map with Upkeep costs. They should be balanced, offcourse. But the upkeep is against ''campers''. They player who build snipers in their base all day long, and win anyway.
Interesting idea. I'll see if that can be done. Hmm...
