Staredit Network -> Miscellaneous -> Logging into Bnet problem

I was wondering if anyone knew how to fix this...

When the problem occurs:
1. I insert Starcraft Broodwar into my laptop
2. I click the play button
3. I hit meo(to get to bnet logon screen)
4. I enter password and try to connect

As usual the little box pops up saying what its doing, but it always freezes starcraft when it says connecting to fastest server and this only happens when I start starcraft through the installer sad.gif
Oh yea, the starcraft process(starcraft.exe) keeps running for about 3 or so minutes after I end it because of the above problem.

you could try
reinstall
start from directory
remove h4x/viruses
other servers
check with your ISP
call a professional

i have the same problem. no idea what causes it though. what i did is this. i get daemon tools (a virtual CD drive thingey), then turned the SC disc into and ISO, and loaded it into one of the virtual drives. then i have a shortcut ctrl+alt+z to starcraft. so i dont boot up sc through the installer. i dunno why this is caused, and it only started happening to me with the new patch. AND sometimes i wont connect either, and it says it cant find my version number ???????

I have starcraft(along with a couple other games) on the quick launch thing and I usually start it up from there but lately i've been playing other games. As for the reinstall, does that mean I need to move all my downloaded maps to a diff location or does it leave em on the harddrive?(gotta find the first sc cd too...)
Thx for suggestions

EDIT: Yea this only started happening to me with the last patch but only the above has happened to me so far, none of the other problems youve experienced.

i really dont think reinstalling will help. its a patch problem. maby the patch has some sort of problem with our computers.

edit- why dont you post this on blizzards forums, or maby email them. maby they can fix the patch? i dunno.
but ull need to give em like, all your system info and drivers installed and updates installed and bunch of other shit like maby debug mode or something...

Every XP computer I have seen does this. What I usually do is press Cancel quickly before it freezes. That usually makes it sit at a black screen for about a minute, but sometimes it actually freezes. So then if nothing happens for a little more than a minute, end task and start Starcraft again. But if it eventually (or instantly) goes back to the Multiplayer menu, then it should work fine.

Maybe it started with 2000, but I never get (got) that problem with any other operating system that I have used.

It's not the OS, it's mostly your CD or your connection speed or both.

Maybe its the installer on your CD?

But any CD I use on any XP computer I get this...
