Staredit Network -> StarForge -> Problems with StarForge
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Dr.Shotgun on 2005-07-04 at 19:18:12
I feel like making a list of all the problems i know of in StarForge. i will start with the first three:
1.Temperamental with wavs
2. Consumes excessive amounts of mem.
3. Works slowly at times.

addition:
4. Outdated, and heimdal doesn't seem very interested in updating it.
5. Many features are incomplete.
6. No switch names.
7. No built in CUWP slot editor.

Start adding!

Nothing bad happens to me when I use it, so...

OMG really? Help Staforge must suck, I never knew that!! [/noob][/sarcasm]

It's not like Heim doesn't know all this. Unlike you, he has a life and isn't solely devoted to SF. Patience is of the essence.

I'm just trying to make a list, ok? I'm not going to use it and im not just making a "OMFG SF SUCKS" thread. It's just something I feel like doing. Hell, if you want, ill make
positive attribute of starforge list. Its actually sorta ironic, since SF is practically the only editor i use.

Heim is well aware of everything on the list. It serves no purpose.

Heim is not a god, he doesn't know everything, and he might be missing things. Afterall, I don't think that this is a bad idea.

starforge owns! biggrin.gif

Ya, SF does own. But it does have things could be fixed.

1. The buttons that havent been installed
2. A few extra triggers.
3. Terrain colours same as in bnet.
4. Fog of war layer.
5. Cloaked property.

Thats about all I can think of for SF at the moment.

1. Do you mean like they get removed if you open the map in starforge? Do them last biggrin.gif
2. Not really... Unless you leave it open 24/7
3. If you have too much running.
4. He is, have you not noticed the "Suggestions" topic? And he is "interested" in helping people with it. But, as stated before, he is busy and has a life that is not entirely StarForge.
5. From what I see, he does plan on adding them.
6. Honestly, please tell me if you rename switches? (obviously you do.) All they do when you rename them is waste a string. If you want to remember what is what, use notepad.

1. Previous #5
2. What do you mean "A few extra triggers"? They are all there. It is impossable wihtout editing the Starcraft data to add some. ... Well there are a few more, but they have been disabled and are only used in the Campaigns.
3. Starforge terrain color is the same as Starcraft, except the minimap.
4. Probably going to add in the near future.
5. Wtf? There is a cloaked property, for the units that can use it.

My post was meant for everyone in general, but for some people more than others. I would have made it more clear if I was just talking to one person.

I only have one request, just one and nothing else: The help button doesn't work while you are in Starforge. I click on it and it doesn't work.

Heim didnt feel like completing the help section, and who can blame him.
About StarForge's mem consumption- At random times SF uses around 5-10 times the mem of SCMD2, SCXE, or SE. It puts a strain on many computers.
I dont rename switches, but many people would like that feature.
13.As Heim is probably aware, deleting triggers causes SF to crash.
