This is actually not a concept, so move it whereever it fits, please.
You (MOD) may also delete this poll or/and this message.

Only options listed in the last 2 (or 3) choices have a chance of infection with a (possible? already existing?) SCM-virus or trojan or whatever

(The virus/... CAN exist because of Player > 12 bug (that bug also allows 2xspeed, A.S.O) I'm sure if it Does exist, it most likely won't be ever released to travel throughout the Web, DON"T WORRY!).

QUOTE(battle.net FAQ)
Can I get a Virus by downloading maps over Battle.net?
No. Viruses are transmitted through running an executable that has been infected. Maps delivered over Battle.net are data only, and you cannot get a virus from merely viewing data. This is the same reason why you cannot get a virus from simply looking at your email -- you would have to run an attached program, such as the Word document included with the Melissa virus.

I may be wrong, but I pretty much agree with that statement.

The only way to run a virus through StarCraft that I am aware of is to put a virus into a map, then have someone extract it and try to run it. I have never heard of a virus being in a StarCraft map.

In use Xp by the way, and ME, depending on where I am.

A virus could probably be distributed more easily through a Modifation.

Anyway,

There are JPEGs with viruses encoded in them... anything that can cause a buffer overfllow when read can give your computer a virus. However, I doubt Starcraft's map reading algorithms are unsafe (only because there have been no viruses yet).

I'm gonna have to go ahead and disagree with you there:

SuperToast is absolutely right.

Moose is also right. A lot of mods are distributed as self-extracting applications. Once you run a program, it can do whatever it wants to your computer.
