For all those who didn't click the link in time, or don't want to...thats an item on ebay. Somone selling a SWG character for NINE HUNDRED dollars. Can ANYONE explain to me why anyone would pay nearly a thousand dollars for a game character?! I could understand if he was NEAR jedi, and you could level him up for a high resale...but sheesh. Thats just ludicrous!

The same thing used to (may still, dunno, dont care) with D2. A friend of mine sold a couple mules worth of uniques for 350$ PP.

I see a definite problem with this. If the trend continues, games such as these could quickly become ruled by the rich...

Bleh, I'm tired, and noone had replied in an hour or so, so I figured I'd do something I've never done in "Games" before: Start a topic!

EBay is a crazy place . . . basically anybody will sell or buy anything for any price (maybe a little exaggerated there).

But if somebody will pay hundreds of dollars for a moldy sandwich, I'm sure somebody will pay $900 for a SWG character.

You can do so many things on Ebay. Selling useless and dumb things and you can get a good amount of money from that. For instance the topic here on SEN about someone selling a pair of pants that Jesus apparently wore and people are bidding on it. Also the ROLF waffles are for sale as well. But if people really want to pay for a character for $900...

Thank god no one is bought that.. I'm going to put an M&M in the shape of a heart in a few weeks on EBay to see who is stupid enough to bid on it.. tongue.gif it's an orange M&M too happy.gif And there's definitely not going to be a trend like that.. the Über rich like that who can afford to spend $1000 on a mere account are drastically outnumbered..

Lol, nobody bought the character cuz he was black...
And whatever happened to the secret envelope?

I should put a half-empty Aquafina bottle on EBay and say that Jesus drank from it...

Bids starting at $200!

On trademe (a trading website like ebay in NZ), someone tried to tell a $1 coin for $2.

You just don't know how crazy people can get sometimes.

Ebay doesn't care what kind of random junk you sell on their site? Don't they have some kind of restrictions and that you need to prouve that the item you are selling is really the item? I'm going to get a towel and say Elvis sweat in it.

They strictly forbid anything illegal, or any human remains...

but many things still get through. Popular Science had an article about a list of stuff they had found//bought, including a human femur bone, with an iron rod and pins still in it.

I've seen 500 gold on WoW being sold on Ebay for $500. You are paying real money for game money. By the time you can use the $500 on good stuff, you have to be level 60 and have close to that amount in money.

Haven't you ever heard of collectible coins?

Though I'm guessing you're referring to an everyday silver dollar...

Yeah but can I lie and say that this towel (not a human remain) belonged to Elvis and that he wiped his sweat from it and it is still there to this day?

Apparently yes, it's pretty much the same issue as that guy who sold Jesus' pants.

Some people just do it for fun, like the ROFL Waffles, it was pretty stupid, but fun to read along that story. If only General Bob had been eaten...

But people actually BID on those stupid things and the owner who made up the bs story about the item gets money. I think I should start doing this and get some money....

for me personally though half the fun of the rpg is leveling to that insane level and getting all the goob items on ur own. buying the stuff just takes away from that in my opinion
