Hello everyone!
As an individual who has loved playing StarCraft since its beta days, there has been one particular map which has always been one of the most intriguing, and it was one that came with the game of SC itself, this map is StarCraft Fortress. StarCraft Fortress in my opinion is the best team-oriented map that has been created for StarCraft and is one of the more exciting and interesting maps to play on with a group of players who can truly understand and grasp the concept of how it works.
StarCraft Fortress was also very popular in the past with some of the more "elite" players of the game as it was something that required skill, yet required flawless teamwork. A good game of SC:F is one that you will never forget.
Of course, you are probably wondering why would I bother making a post such as this about SC:F? First of all, it is impossible to get a good game of this in with the pubbies on B.Net as a large majority of them have never even heard of it. Second of all, I have a small group of players that all have fallen in love with SC:F, and I would like to expand these numbers. I have hopes of hosting a tourney of some sort in the near future based on this map.
So what am I asking? Every Thursday Night on Battle.Net's U.S. East Server, I host a gaming night starting at 8:00 PM EDT in the channel "BGN." We'll traditionally play a series of melee games, but during this evening I would also like to get some interested players in SC:F into the fold.
As a starting point, you can check out the map yourself as it is under the Scenario directory directly from Blizzard, an 8 player team map. I have also written up a basic "How to play" guide, which you can check out at
http://ic.net/~mccrumb/sc:f/howtoscf.htmTrust me, if you give it a couple of games and play with some players who know what they are doing, you will love playing SC:F. On top of the fact that many of the people here are map makers and UMS designers, I figured this would be a great area to spread the word.
If you have any questions, feel free to ask in this thread. I will check it periodically.
