Yesterday i found that starforge has a list of all the sounds in INSTALL.exe on the broodwar and starcraft cd's. Earlier this year i had been working on a listfile for the broodwar cd and so i added that list to this. Also by looking at the sounds paths and seeing that they were like campaign\expprotoss\protoss01\staredit\wav\teleport.wav. sound farmiliar? in a .scm file the scenario is staredit\scenario.chk which meant that campaign\expprotoss\protoss01\staredit\scenario.chk would be the CHK of the first expansion protoss. Here is the listfile for installer.exe. [attachmentid=11726]

Secondly, i was looking through the sound i found and saw this one: [attachmentid=11727]
All i can say is: teh wierdnesses!

with this you can now make a custom campgain easily

I would hate to burst your bubble, but the existence of those files and their exact paths have been known for several years. Good job with the discovery, though smile.gif

How about a patch listfile? I'm still missing two files from stardat, they're apparently smk files, and two wav files that are probably easier to figure out on Broodwar's Install.exe.

A patch listfile? My UEDBwData4 covers those ever since it came out... what.. three years ago?

As for the unknown smk's in your StarDat...

I have four unknows, all are SMK's. Two are of a seemingly Khaydarin Crystal, one is the new unit selection "static screen" that pops up in the portrait slot briefly, and the fourth one is this fading away.

Amongst the BrooDat unknows, I have...
(...)370, which is a 80×15 JPEG, an internet banner that says "StarCraft"
353, which is a WAV, a clone of "glue\swishout.wav"
5CC, which is a WAV, a clone of "glue\swishlock.wav"
1DA, which is an RTF, a Brood War 1.05 Readme
083, which is a WAV, and sounds like an accelerating spacecraft while teleporting simultaneously (hyperspace?)
302, a 112×107 Promotional JPEG of a Lurker
and 3A3, a file I cannot figure out, although it does have some ASCII in it...

As for listfiles for the actual patch EXE's... I have done some work on it a year ago, I have a listfile of those stashed away in my archives somewhere. If you need that, I may dig it up and update it with new files in new patches. I've found a way of harvesting filenames happy.gif

Most of the files in the patch EXE's aren't usable though... for all maps, 24 bytes must be removed from the beginning of the file, and a lot of others aren't openable either, although I was too lazy to try and make each file usable.

UED77.

you sure you got all of the installer .ins and .vis files?

ADDiton: and then how come things like the The Flame Knives(dispite it being 1.10) dont use the scenario.chk files there?

If you want to test if that file is corrupted or not play against a computer on 1 player with you as zerg and enter "radio free zerg" and it should play the song if its not corrupted
