Numerous suggestions on the improvement of SENv5, most behind-the-scenes
  • MODERATOR OPTIONS: Allow to "Uber-Lock Topic", locking the topic and disabling the member's ability to open it again, in addition to the normal lock.
  • DLDB: When denying files, send an auotmatic notice to submitter, and allow the dldb keeper to attach comments (I already do this manually).
  • PROFILE VIEW: If name changes are included, show a history of past names of the member in the profile.
  • GROUPS: (optional) - If needed allow Elite members to have a limited number of moderation options in the Other forums. These options would be (Unpin, Lock, Unlock, and Move to Garbage) and would be notated by a auto-generated post. The generated posts appears in the member's name but does not increment post count/minerals and can't be edited or deleted.
btw, IP, is the Reputation in the SENv5 for my system? We really ought to use it.

Locking/Unlocking will also be done in a tier base fashion.
A member can't unlock a topic a forum mod, gmod, or admin locked.
A gmod can't unlock a topic an admin locked.
A gmod can unlock a topic a forum mod locked.
This tier system will be used a lot smile.gif.

Will be done... I've said it a couple of times by now.

That's a censored.gif ing hawt idea. I will probably do.

Nah... but this generated post thing will be used quite a bit.
A "post" will appear when topics are locked, unlocked... a post gets deleted... etc with the reason specified. This post won't include avatars, signatures, etc.

No it's not...
Or at least not that I know of...
There is no admin value from 5 to 12 or whatever that equation had. Admin and repuation is like -infinity to +infinity, so you can't factor things in that way.
Karma / repuation will be the factor of many, many, many things.

Group promotions will have some type of equation like this:
c = senv4 "Cumulative" posts
p = all posts ever made - c
k = admin repuation "karma"
r = member reputation

k * 20 + r *10 + c * 5 + p / 4
or something similiar... maybe p will have a max limit on how many points it can contribute to the equation. It is simple and effective.

Hmm, at least the concept is being accepted of multiple factors. Glad to see what's planned. Keep up the good work! biggrin.gif

Two more:
  • MINOR: Change Shoutbox to Spambox. Tell our members the truth about it. tongue.gif
    (I DID like that fad earlier).
  • COSMETIC: A little more seriously: Add that KiwiBot that auto-replies to Weclome topics.

Neither of these is a terribly serious suggestion, but would be fun to have happen happy.gif

There was always the idea of those multiple factors in senv5's group promotions.
I believe I even gave you that equation with those variables and asked you if you could write a better one. You gave me soem equation with karma being values from 5-12.

Spambox gives justification for people to spam it.
Kiwibot auto reply... no...

I've been thinking a lot about Moderator accions and here's the list.

1) Make Global Moderators be able to delete//mass delete attachments from inside the profile of a user. This is partly because users will start posting pictures of naked people or just unwanted pictures all over the forum and it's a pain to go into each post manually.

2) Global Moderators should have Forum Moderating accions in the users' profiles. Just go into "Show all posts by this user", in here we can edit, delete and do all our normal moderating accions. Much easier when a user spams every thread in sight.

3) Editing member titles, posting backgrounds, journals and everything that will be implemented into user profiles in SENv5. This does not include name changing, user group changing and any other Admin related things.

4) E-mail search thing. Just like we used to have with checking all posts with X IP address, we should be able to check users for e-mail addresses. If an e-mail address is repeated we got double accounts there. This would be usefull when a spam session was eneded by suspension or banning and the person creates a new account 5 minutes after. This also gives me the idea of suspending//banning all accounts related to that e-mail.

5) LOGS LOGS AND MORE MODERATOR LOGS. We don't like to double punish for the same action and it's good to see if that person is a repeated offender.

More! More! More! lol
  • NEW FEATURE: Edit log. Been mentioned before, but this is how it would be done: Like deleting posts, there is a small comment attached in small table below post saying "Post edited by $mid because: $reason", and do a <if> for global mods of a link saying "see previous form".
  • NEW FEATURE: If a new topic is being posted in an Assistance forum (Forum Feedback, Mapping Assistance, or Modding Assistance and certain keywords match to tutorials/current topics, raise an error saying "following information on your help topic found, are you sure you want to post?" Call it Ask Yoshi or something.

Okay.

It gets a little complicated when posts are also threads... but yeah.

There will be no editting titles and blah blah blah... It will be a one click wipe out.
Journals will be different though.

Email addresses won't be allowed to be used to make a new account as is.

I think I already talked about this.

Ummm... not sure what you mean by this. When you edit someone's post, you will get to enter a reason. You will also have the option of including this edit reason in their mod logs.

This would be annoying in general to have your post interrupted because it feels like there is a similiar tutorial.

I mean like as a moderator option next to the reason, there is a link to the previous post too se what it was like before it was edited.

I was planning on having viewable logs in the modcp to see what your other mods are doing / have done with reports / etc... so yeah, that's doable and feasible dtbk.

I have some more 'fun' suggestions that you might be able to throw in the profile section. (Fun facts woo!)
    » Number of smiles used.
    » Most held minerals. (?)
    » Most...BBCodes used in one post?
