"sex" also refers to gender, or you say "my map is sexy", which is why I left it. Its less offending then other phrases I've seen.

I've deleted hell, damn, and porn from the bad word lists...
They aren't swear words... PLUS, those words can be used in serious discussion with perfect intentions of having an actual discussion without it meaning anything bad to anyone.
Also... "hello" shouldn't be filtered.

Another thing... if you are going to filter out a lot of different types of swear words... you should make a different level or two of censored smilie... like je.rk would have a "lighter looking" censor smilie so you don't think someone saying je.rk could possibly mean bi.tch...

Aside from je.rking off (which I'm sure I can generate a nice list of phrases and words you can censor), is not really a swear word.

Wonderful. I noticed that a bunch of words are decensored and are now being used. I've never EVER heard people say "they're being jerked around". I now hate this language more than ever, and people are using it more than ever. We were supposed to leave it alone and have it filter everything.

If your going to censor everything under the sun could you at least do it properly? Maybe differant censor emotions.

Yes, people throwing around the word b.itch and f.uck carelessly would make the site look bad, yet, not being able to talk about anything just makes us look foolish. There has to be some type of middle ground here. For one, je.rk probably shouldn't be censored... I haven't deleted it yet... but...
In some cases, perfectly fine words like "hell" should only be a concern on per post basis.

There are some things I do that are not well approved, but for everyones own good. People swear just because some other guy does and they don't get punished for it. And then it escalates, and they come off the site, angry. You may say "its just the internet", but some people really do take it seriously, because its another human being on the other end. I take the internet half seriously, I treat other people like friends beside me and give them rights, but at the same time, I don't let it get to me when I shut off my computer. Not everyone can do that.

I'll make this a little easier for all the testers.

In my opinion, cr.ap ho.mo p.ee pi.ss qu.eer and ret.ard shouldn't be censored.
All the other ones that Moose mentioned im not sure.

I think c.rap p.ee p.iss je.rk a.ss a.sses and o.rgasim especially shouldn't be filtered.

As for your post yoshi, it might be true, but like I said... take it on a "per post basis." Besides scripting, I'm also here because it's generally a nice little community... or was? Yes, I want it to be a nice little *happy* community without people getting off the comptuer and being angry, however, censoring words doesn't seem to be making anyone happy, generally defeating that argument. A swear is a swear, it doesn't really make a difference. If i say you, you aren't going to like it with or without the smilie. Per post basis. "My a.ss got handed to me by pekkle in melee." Is there really anything wrong with that statement?

As I said, too many people don't swear in good taste. Yes, we should program something that prevents too frequent swearing per user, but as the solution right now, really strict filters.

Or, you remove the filters and we become more active in bringing on the pain when someone swears in bad taste.

Two points I'm trying to make here:
Your filter list will never filter out all bad words.
Lots of those words up there are a hell of a lot worse than damn, hell, and a.ss. In that regards, the forums aren't that bad.

It's better this way. Eventually people would get used to the swear filters, and learn certain words mean the severity of a censored word. That would defeat the purpose of a word filter.

And if I actually think you're a wonderful person, you're going to be insulted.

I'm not going to change the way I express myself for you or anyone else. Cuss words are used mostly for people to extremly express themselves. Like I've said to some people, there is 'yes', there is 'yeah!', and there is 'fucking hell yeah!!!'. It's a form of expression, and in the case of some words it's commonly used.
