Okay, I will post the lyrics. You will try to get the meaning out of them (I might make this a continueing game, idk)

My Girl's Ex-Boyfriend - Relient K
.m4a Format

(Hint: It's a christian band)

When he was seeing her
He could see he had his doubts
And now he's missing her
Because you know shes missing out
And now its haunting him
Her memory's like a ghost
And he's so terrified
Cause no one else even comes close

He's the guy that you should feel sorry for
He had the world but he thought that he wanted more
I owe it all to the mistake he made back then
I owe it all to my girl's ex-boyfriend

So then along comes me
This undeserving mess (undeserving mess)
Who would believe my life
Would be so blessed (life would be so blessed)
Two years ago
When he left all that to debris (left all that to debris)
Who would've known
He would leave everything I need

He's the guy that you should feel sorry for
He had the world but he thought that he wanted more
I owe it all to the mistake he made back then
I owe it all to my girl's ex-boyfriend

If it wasn't for him
I would still be searching
If it wasn't for him
I wouldn't know my best friend
If it wasn't for him
He would be able to see that
If it wasn't for him
He'd be as happy as me

When she and I settle down you can bet
That he is going to have to settle for less
He's someone I would hate to be
I got the girl and he's left with just the memory.

He's the guy that you should feel sorry for
He had the world but he thought that he wanted more
I owe it all to the mistake he made back then
I owe it all to my girl's ex-boyfriend

If it wasn't for him
I would still be searching
If it wasn't for him
I wouldn't know my best friend
If it wasn't for him
He would be able to see
If it wasn't for him
He'd be as happy as me

I will try to get a version of this to listen to.

Some guy had a girlfriend, but wasnt so sure about things, and he didnt... lets say, "Do much."
But then his girlfriend and him... lets say "faded away" or just broke up. THATS WHEN he realized how much he loved her and needed her. The ex-girlfriend just went to another guy. ("Me") And "I" realize how much "I" love her... "Thanks for screwing up, "My girlfriend's" ex!"

They say that lyrics change for the person that reads them, and what happens in their life, if you know what im saying...

But then again these lyrics are pretty strait foward.

PS- Why would you want a meaning out of these obvious lyrics, anyway? Maybe im missing somethinmg...

AGHAGJHDIAUS!!!!! CHRISTIAN ROCK!!

Actually their pirate song wasn't too bad.

The lyrics did seem kinda obvious, and warhammer answered it. Unless theres some deeper meaning... huh.gif

Reliant K is all guys, ne?
Here's my pseudo intellectual hypothesii approach:

Most, if not all guys, want a girlfriend/wife, hoping that'll make them complete. Once they have one they believe they are complete, and that everything will fall into place easily, henceforth the line "He had the world but he thought that he wanted more;" God gives us the world if you accept Jesus Christ into your life (the girlfriend), but people are blinded by all that and want more. He left her and feels bad for it, and thinks that he can't get it back again.

"Her memory is like a ghost" Holy Spirit allusion, perhaps?

I wonder if the Ex-Boyfriend is an allusion to a person in the Bible; perhaps Judas, the guy who betrayed Jesus to his death.

Two years ago...that confuses me. Jesus rose on the third day, so perhaps he believes we're still in his third day, and is portraying the days as years? Undeserving mess; he believes he doesn't deserve the blessings Jesus gave him

"When she and I settle down you can bet
That he is going to have to settle for less"
He's going to heaven, the ex is going to hell

yes or no? huh.gif

Reading that does make more sense, just not EXACTLY what I was thinking of.

The jew's could have had Jesus (The ex-boyfriend) but they thought he wasnt... yeah, your's made more sense. My interpretation makes no sense as you look back... arg.. too much thinking!!

Kame wins... the satisfaction of winning...

[irrelevance]Pink Floyd are probably the best band to try to decipher the lyrics of, although you have to look at their albums as a whole to have much hope of translating some of them.[/irrelevance]

Agreed. Or, The Doors. Actually, a lot of songs from that era are better.

Can I put up a song next, Kow?
