One of the things I most hate about SE, SE X-tra, and even SF, is the fact that I can't import Midis!
If anyone knows some way to do this, or has some free, easy-to-use, etc program that can do it without compromising the quality of the .mid file, lemme know!
Is there anyway to do this with Winamp? I've looked and looked and can't find anyway to use Winamp to do it.
I NEED HELP!!!!!!!!!!!
EDIT: Though I have just found a Midi to Wav converter, it takes a long time, and it only allows me to do 6 files at a time(it's trial version).
I haven't heard the end results, so I don't know if they'll be horrible or what.
EDIT:
And it only does 30 seconds, and most of the files are.... empty of sound, but not space.

First off Midi's when converted to wavs are ALOT larger than the midi version. So you wouldn't want to use most midi files.

Secondly, You can actually use Windows Sound Recorder to convert litterally anything. Do this by just playing the sound in one program and pressing record on Sound Recorder (of course you got to have your settings properly configured and its mono).

Lastly Midis can't be imported into maps for the main reason that StarCraft can not play them. Im not sure about this but Midi is a Windows compression and Starcraft usign them would be in violation of copy right. Well if thats true or not you can't play midis in SC and you can't change that. I belive you can actually import the file using SF or Mpq editor at least but it servers no purpose.

By the way, You can just call me Bolt_Head or Bolt

Starcraft only supports PCM wavs. Nothing else.

Midis would be good, but impossible to do.

Sorry dude.

Yoshi, I know it won't support anything other than Wavs.
That's WHY I'm asking for a midi to wav converter, so I can convert my midi's to wavs and therefore can put my new wavs in.

I can do it for you. You have to manually configure Winamp to do it, but I do it alot lately. You can also use WinGroove, but that costs money (but I have it anyways). Only problem is that WinGroove uses it's own set of sound fonts, which might not be what it sounds like on your computer.

By the way, midi files contain the notes which a sound card reads and generates, and therefore differ between soundcards. They do not contain actual sound, which is why you can simply convert them.

Yes, I understand how a midi basicly works.
"manually configure Winamp to do it"
What do you mean?

Configure the input plugin the play midis the the option that syas something like "blah blah blah blah (with output)" and the choose the output plugin to be the one that says something like "blah blah Disk-Writer". Configure them to your liking. Then, stop (not pause) all songs, and then play them. You'll hear no sound, but the music will be then recorded into WAV files. Remember to switch everthing back after though. You don't want it to record every thing you play, or else you'rre lose hard drive space fast.

I usually do this in order to burn songs onto a CD to play on CD players when I'm not near my computer. I'm too lazy to get something like an iPod.

Thanks Spaceboy.
You've been a lot more help on this subject, so far, than Yoshi or BoltHead, or anyone else -.-

You could also download Midi2Wav, but using this program is the exact same as configuring your system the way Bolt said, but all in one neat little package.
