Staredit Network -> UMS Showcase -> A Grander Vision Final (I hope)
Report, edit, etc...Posted by darth_ender on 2005-07-31 at 22:05:08
Okay, I hope no one has gotten tired of my work on this map. I am an obsessive perfectionist. There were still some problems with my latest submission for A Grander Vision. I worked hard to make a cool unit besides the exploding zealots. I have an infested Dark Templar that actually turns some units against their comrades. He also heals (a complicated use of virtual health). Unfortunately, he hardly got any screen time in the past. He would keep getting stuck and not do anything. He also was too easy to kill. The idea for this map was to launch a slow counter-offensive against Duran and then this invisible guy would come and wipe you out unless you were adequately prepared with great defenses. It never seemed to work like that before. Well, I think I finally got it right. I also seriously altered the layout and terrain. I find it far more aesthetically pleasing. Another problem with the earlier version was that it was...TOO HARD! You could barely make any progress against the infested zealots, and then the Zerg would mass a horde of units and attack you. I have fixed this somewhat by eliminating most of his air capability (since you have few air units yourself). It seemed to create a lot more balance. I also did a bit more to balance it out.
I need to devote more attention to new maps, so I want to move past this. I want to have a perfect version for submission, so from there I can move on and work on its sequels. I really could use a few people willing to test this out, beat it, and give their feedback. Then I can submit it and give more attention to my newest map in production (with more new units...I will let you know about it soon!).
What say you?

ADDITION:
Sorry for those who see two of these threads. You are currently reading the correct one. My computer was being stupid, and it made a duplicate. Just ignore the other.

ADDITION:
Well, so far there are two downloads. I hope more will try it out than that. Still, if no news is good news, I will probably have to assume that it is pretty well done if I don't hear any responses.
What would anyone suggest as a good way to get testers. I think I need to make better friends on this site so we can help each other out in such ways. I know I've already found a couple who are nice and seem interested in my work. I am willing to help if others are willing to help me. Any takers?

ADDITION:
Wow, I'm really popular happy.gif (sarcasm). No matter. This map is now posted. Just a little FYI. I hope everyone enjoys it.
