sad.gif It's so terrible. In real life I'm an animator and I'm trying to draw a 15 min short movie BY MYSELF! I've got about 25% of it done, but I am suffering from the WORST case of artist's block I've ever had. It's been going on for months and I have a deadline coming up for which I must have more of it finished to show to people for college.

Any of you got any advice for overcoming this? I feel like less of a person when I can't draw! Although, the bright side is that I've been able to make lots of Starcraft maps, but my future does not depend on them like it does my movie! dontgetit.gif

usually when i lack motivation to make sc maps, i either look and play some of the maps in our DLDB or battle.net. Once i see some really good maps, it usually inspires me to start my maps; it gets my adrenelin going.

Maybe you should try the same with the animation stuff?

It helps me when I'm suffering artist block to go out on a walk, or something like that. It clears my head, but there is a lot of inspiration to be said for the outside world. I find that television/computer/etc. cloud my mind. If you're into that sort of thing check out yoga or some zen philosophies.

It also helps to do gesture drawings. Go to the mall or a highly populated place and draw the basic parts of a person in a certain interval of time. Since the people don't know you're drawing them, they'll move around. The trick is to remain in that one second for as long as it take for you to draw. It could come out looking like a stick figure. Then just leaf out some clothes, etc.

That helps me, anyways. =D

You should play your favourite games and watch your favourite movies and try and get ideas from those...

I would take what Kame said about the Yoga or Zen stuff...

Or you could meditate....

Meditation is easy... Breath in for four seconds... Hold for two, release for four seconds.... And don't think of anything, just clear your mind....

Then you should be able to get past your artists block....

Y'know what? I tried takin it easy like some of you said and I feel LOADS better. I came to the conclusion while I was relaxing that the reason for me being so blocked is that I'd placed my focus on what I wasn't getting! If any of you listen to Tony Robinson or other self help stuff (admit it! It helps sometimes) you've probably heard about the power of the mind. What I came to realize is that I'd lost sight of my goal and was focusing too much on my frustration! YOU GUYS ARE SO 1337! biggrin.gif

Really though, thanks for the input
