I'm going to host a ums map making contest with the theme of old school games. I want to know what games you guys used to play that you would like to see remade on starcraft because the maps people make will be restricted to a small list of them.
Try not to pick a game that lets people get away with a simple hack and slash style game. Games like Tetris, Bubble Bobble, 1943 - R-Type - Gradius, Rampart are what I'm looking for (and they're already on the list).
The cash prizes will be $30 $20 and $10. The maps will be put in the featured maps section of the DLDB. No teams. No already existing maps. No already started maps. And a deadline of September 6th. Giving people 5 weeks after I announce it to make maps.
Emphasis on multiplayer, point systems (so people can compare scores), continuity (game keeps going on for a long time - or until you die), and realism (resembling the game you're cloning as closely as possible).
Judges will be selected by me. I'm shooting for 6 including myself.
Game list:
Tetris
Bubble Bobble
Puzzle Bobble
1943
R-Type
Gradius
Rampart
Centipeded
Breakout
Zelda
Centipede
breakout (would be hard to do)
*DT_Battlekruser goes to check list of 80's atari games.
..missile command..
I don't know about missile command, there have been several of these made already and a couple of them were pretty damn good.
Just naming old atari games that could possibly be made into a map.
"Bubble Bobble"
Is that like the arcade game today "Bust a move again" where you make a group of 3 or more of the same bubble to pop?
No, its an RPG-type game.

Bubble Bobble is a game where you go around capturing guys in bubbles then popping them and grabbing the food left behind. Puzzle Bobble and Bust A Move are pretty much the same game.
k thnx. Stupid old games have like 100 different names for them LoL makes me want to finish my space invaders map.
I still got a $20 certificate off amazon.com if you want to throw that in.
How about another classic SEN prize: A @staredit.net forwarder/10mb email inbox?
For all winners or just one? I think it would be nice to give that to all 3.
Beer, thanks but thats ok. I think I'll stick with what I have now. I can continue to host these tournaments too. $50 every 4 months sounds fine to me, heh.
