Remember your old games that you used to play back in Windows 95? You can't install most of those on WinXp because they won't run. Same thing will happen to another large amount of games once Longhorn is released in 2006.

Absolutely wrong. You couldn't be more wrong,actually:
Starcraft has more players, and Starcraft's proffesional scene is much, much, much bigger than Warcraft 3's (there is hardly a comparison). Since Starcraft is older than Warcraft 3, and it has more players and more new leagues and tourneys while Warcraft 3 is fading away, there is no reason to think that Warcraft 3 will make a comeback. Countless RTSs have died since Starcraft came out, so it isn't like this is a first.
About your Longhorn comment:
Window's Vista is run on the .NET Framework, which is completely capable of running and communicating with legacy applications. Microsoft was very careful about this, so you will be dissapointed if you are hoping Starcraft won't work.
