When I was running forums way back when, Invision was better. But you got the whole thing for free then. Now you must pay.

Yeah, the real IPB run circles around phpBB, but phpBB is much better compared to invisionfree.

Invision forums, as long as it's 2x then it's alright. Only problem is phpBB is less hacked than IPB.

We've been using Invision ever since the site started, and I'm saying, neither. Invision was the choice at the time, since phpBB has, and still has, many vunerabilities.
Invision is now pay-only though, and plus, it lacks a lot of flexibility, and is unprofessional in some areas, like "enter -1 in admin cp to do blah".

Well it seems phpBB22 is better but you know if you had to pay like 100 something bucks for phpBB22 IPB wouldd be the way to go. phpBB2 shouldn't cost that much though since I don't think it should. phpBB2 seems more customizable than IPB though. The only thing I heard that's bad about it is that it's easy to hack. IPB is better when it was free and now it isn't free so phpBB2 is better. Also phpBB2 is more popular and also has more big boards than IPB has big boards. Just check out that big boards site and you'll see that phpBB2 is beating IPB. vBulletin seems cool too. It's the highest one so far. That's all I have to say.

what about vBulletin, Something Awful runs off of it.
