Why is it that...

- Whenever we listen to good music on our Ipods or w/e, we rock our heads back and forth.
- When we say "I think this is the right answer", it sometimes translates into "I'm positive this is the right answer."
- When someone says they're 99% sure of something, that 1% becomes a really big deal.

Ok these questions might sound retarded, but owell.

it doesn't just have to be an ipod. But whenever you hear any good music from anywhere, whether its on the radio or w/e, some people, like me, just subconsiously begin rocking our heads back and forth

Why is there gravity?

What is the meaning of life?

- Possibly because humans stereotypicaly do so and because of that it's engrained into their expectations of behavioural patterns, and they don't like the idea of being different? I dunno.
- Because open-mindedness is(theoreticaly) considered to be good form, and saying "I think" is more well associated with open-mindedness? Or maybe because, if someone, despite their "certainty" of their belief being correct is wrong, then by having said "I think" as opposed to "I'm sure" they save face? I dunno.
- Because when you're a tyranical ruler of a kingdom, there is a difference between a lowly peasant that wants to kill you, and a lowly peasant that has a small rock that wants to kill you, even if it is negligable.. I dunno.

Because the beat is strong.
By the way, that has nothing to do with Ipods, I rock my head wherever im listening to music.

2. Because of number 3(- When someone says they're 99% sure of something, that 1% becomes a really big deal.), or/and we just become more confident as we say it.
3. Because humans like to be completely insured

I do that... if it's a really good song, or something by nirvana, I'll get up and air guitar it! WOO!
Bleh, I also just rock out when driving... Bammo style...

Don't really rock my head. Sometimes I'll start singing the lyrics, rofl. When you say "I'm positive it's right." It's basically giving the person reassurance. I don't see 1% as a big deal?
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Staredit.Net Essence on 2005-08-06 at 13:30:19
I think most people do it because they need to move their body to the beat so they move their head instead.
Report, edit, etc...Posted by EzDay281 on 2005-08-07 at 09:50:41
Umm... I don't think he was asking why we make that motion in particular, just why we do that whole rocking thing in the first place when listening to music...
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Rantent on 2005-08-07 at 15:39:06
1. I think we rock our heads back and forth becasue its sexy. They who just stands there while music is playing does not get all the women. Unless he's rich.

2. We can never be positive that the answer is right for many things. I think means, my best guess would be.

3. If 99% of the world died, that 1% would be a big deal to.

Here's another question i forgot to ask:

It might just be me, but why is it that when someone says "No offense but..." it sounds even more offensive?
Report, edit, etc...Posted by yeow on 2005-08-07 at 18:22:37
I think most people say 99% right because they know that they have the possibilty of being wrong.

No offense, but that was a dumb question.[/sarcasm] [/example]

I think it sounds like//puts more of an emphasis on the "but that was a dumb question."

You can't just take Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy for its word. Scientifically it's inaccurate enough and philosophically it's just absolute crap. It wasn't meant to serve either or these functions, it was just supposed to be a comedy thriller.

You shake your head because you're going with the rhythm. People bob their heads in concerts because they don't know didily squat about rhythm.

The meaning of life does not have to depend on religion if you define religion to be different from philosophy. The meaning of life also varies intra-religion. How people interpret them varies even more, because it would be by each individual.

Enough with my opinionated answers. Here's a funny question:
"Why is it that postage stamps are so tasty?"
