Well I know this idea is old but I wanted to give it a shot. The map was inspired by Killer2001's FF7 map. There are many similarities between the two. Basically you go from town to town, advancing through the story and killing bosses. This version has more story to it and has its own unique towns. It also has limit breaks and uses its own materia system using production buildings. For a more complete overview and explanation of this map, visit

Download the map
here.
The file above is the actual file without the music, much more ideal and convenient for playing with others on Bnet. File size is only 500 KB or so. I guess the game can seem a little void without the music, so I suggest putting on a FF7 playlist on your Winamp when playing this version. If you really want to get into it, you can download the version with music below.
*** To play the map with music, download it
here. ***
Over 20 themes from the actual game has been added in this version. The downside is that you won't be able to distribute a file this size on Bnet (File is near 15 MB). Therefore, anyone you want to play with must also have downloaded the file from the link above. But if you actually liked this map without the music, it's sure to enhance your playing experience and make it much more enjoyable.
A couple things I'll add: Cloud is required for the game to function properly. This map is intended for 3-4 players; don't try to beat it with 2 people unless you're as good as me XD. Also keep in mind that this map is not one of those RPGs where you go upgrade like mad and start owning everything. Make use of your spells and items! Save often and don't do anything you wouldn't do in the real game... like walk into the swamp area without a Chocobo or try to beat bosses without spells. Oh yeah, not that you need to be reminded, talk to all Town Folk you meet.
Chocobo Farming!

Chocobo Riding!

Midgar on the World Map:

Junon on the Inside:

Spell Galore:

Ultimate Materia: Ultima?!

Wow this looks like a lot of fun! My friends and I are going to have fun playing this!
Spam... Anyways.. it would have made more sense to make the chocobo a zergling? because it goes fast. You already have your ideas and locations down but i just thought you would put that into thought. It looks fun. I'm glad someone is able to finish an Rpg around here. Your Midgar is very original, i never thought of that. GOod job man and good luck.
*just noticed. Red13 is zergling.
Calling it FF automatically gives your storyline a 1-2 point boost. So, you should have a little bit easier time.

I know you can finish it.

I'll be playing this tonight or tomorrow sometime, and I'll give you a review then ^_^

Already done? Thought it was near done, stupid me.
I would like it if you don't post saying I'll look at it later...
jus played and it was fun =/ but u should make escaping from zolem posible.... cuz i ran into him when i was trying to run into a ling

so u should rly make that part posible to escape and hes hard to beat as well

other then that it was a nice map man gj lol
Wait, I thought you had to go to the Reactor at the beginning, not go to the world map...
Yeah.. nobody can get it right... You start off getting out of the train, go into the reactor and set it off.. oh well good rpg though, I'm still on a save.
The zolem killed me, then I just went and played some Team FFA's with a friend ^_^
I don't understand why each person had to have 2 units, there are triggers that set the invincibility state...
And you should maybe give the player a phoenix down, or fix the zolem deal, because you can't escape from it

Sorry, it's just impossible to do the whole FF7 World thing. I can't make the whole game of FF7 for 4 players when I spend 30 locations and a ton of strings just on Midgar. If you want the game to be that in depth then you should probably play FF7 World Part 1a. You would probably understand if you knew about the limitations of Staredit.
Every character has 2 units to prevent your battling unit from resuming your previous command when you were on the world map. I got annoyed by the invincibility system since I kept running straight for the exit of the battle area right when the battle started.
The zolem's easy, I don't see how people can't figure it out. You get a chocobo and you skip him, just like in the game. Then you come back later and pound on him with Petrify and Comet. If you're wondering if any NPCs give you clues to get a chocobo, the Chocobo Boy does. The zolem is also considered a boss battle so you cannot run from him. Every no0b tries to beat the zolem in the beginning then tells me I made the game too hard -_-
Heh, im glad my maps inspire people, and its always nice to see something related to FF7 because it's such a good game even if its done a million different ways
btw i didnt play your map... 15 MB is a bit too much for my dialup connection, but im sure its good
Uh.. there's a soundless version...
Edit: Is there really a World Map? Cuz I think Killer left it out.. and the Tank name is Guard Scorpion, rite?
Wait, what are you people talking about, the zolem IS beatable in FF7 when you first encounter it, all you need to do is hammer it with cloud's limitbreaks while aries heals and your third person hammers it with spells, I've done it before. Also, it was skippable without a chocobo, I've done that too.

Yes, Killer's map had a world map. And the tank's name is the tank... at the END of midgar, right after the motorcycle chase. I swear nobody even got past midgar since nobody knows who the tank boss is and walks straight into the zolem at first chance.
Ok, so the zolem can be defeated in the game, but I don't think you're getting the concept of this RPG-style "puzzle." Sure you can go around killing all the monsters you're not supposed to beat. Hell, you can beat the zolem in this map by constantly dodging his attacks and using Bolt on him if that'll make you satisfied.

That's classic - coming here and telling us that.
This just doesn't catch the storyline of FFVII well enough for my liking.
dis concept never gets old...only beter...ill giv dis 1 a 9.0/10 its realy a great map
Lol lead factor, any chance of you actually taking out the time to type?
Changing this[and the, that] to "dis[da,dat]" gets really annoying, it will piss about 99% of this site off.
Oh, and Krescent, just ignore The Lead Factor. He never played this map. He posted in all the map production threads in a time of like, 3 minutes. He is just spamming, so I would ignore anything he has to say about anyones maps. He doens't play them.
Anyone know how to do the archeologist Digger bit?

You asking how to use triggers to create it or just how to find it?
Oh yeah, the version with music has had a slight update regarding the bug with drones in the battle area. Download location is still the same so you can get it in the original post.
i think hes asking for the triggers.....thats what it sounds like
No, I'm asking...how to dig up the Lunar harp? I laid mines on every inch of land but it just say I'm unlucky and kills my vulture and let me try all over again.
lol oh i have no idea then
