QUOTE
As a user of Staredit Network, I can attest to the glee of our 3000+ member community when Deathknight discovered EUD triggers (Extended Unit Death triggers.) These triggers are means of modifiing the game in UMS maps, which the great majority of us produce. (addtitional inforemation can be found here.)

These triggers breathe new life into our community, and are probably the best thing to happen to UMS, with one harmful side effect: They will crash a mac user. However, we considered that this was something that careful mappers could counter by labeling their maps. And the benefits are to be considered, these triggers give extreme levels of control to mappers, allowing us to create completely new styles of gameplay, with added visual appeal and strategic depth. EUD has opened up a new world, a dark and unexplored chasm of strange and wonderful things, and this far outweighs the losses, considering a small portion of the SC community uses macs. Also, many mac users to not crash, but rather disconnect, which is much less inconvienient. Also, it has been confirmed that this method cannot transmit viruses or other malware.

Yet you, Blizzard, supposedly are going to end much of this merriment by patching (and thus reducing the hard labor of DiscipleofAdun and Deathknight to naught) these triggers, solely on the insufficient ground that they crash macintosh users. This is not a good reason, because these triggers require advanced skill that not everyone here posses, and the battle.net community, and mappers, will be sure to label maps or games as "PC Only". Also, even when patched, the hacking community will rebound, as it is known by the starcraft community to do with almost fearsome speed and effeciency. Patching these triggers will not reduce the overall amount of mac crashes, as they will take quite a long time to take root.

Mappers here at Staredit Network believe that patching these triggers is either some sort of sinister prelude to greater evils, or a misguided ignorance of the SC mapping community. These triggers allow us to do things that WC3 mappers can do, and some feel that is the reason for patching these.

We feel, also, that Blizzard in general has abandoned the gigantic fan base of SC, left in the dust of Warcraft 3. Consider the age of SC vs. that of Warcraft, and you will understand how ridicoulous it is that Warcraft 3 has been patched 18 times when compared to SC's thirteen.

In closing we would like to say that we hope you will allow the Starcraft mapping community this one gift that is EUD.

AND BY THE WAY, YOUR MOMMAS A FATASS! tongue.gif.

I like Blizzard, but I don't want to patch StarCraft. I just started working on my RPG because of these triggers!

Edit: Better send it soon, Blizzard patches at random tongue.gif

I totaly agree. I haven't started to use EUD but I sure will. And I am against ANY further patches of SC.

Signed. There is no way to send viruses in maps or do harmful things with this method. It only brings new innovations.

ok shotgun, plz change the 2nd choice, you are practically accusing some1 of being a betrayer because of their views. In my view you should be shot because of it.

I signed. But i'm against how you don't want any future patches. I want patches but not ones that affect the EUD.

I'm not against furthur patches, I'm against one that would destroy EUD.

Couple things:
QUOTE
we hope you will realize the error of your ways
Bad. Do not accuse them of doing anything wrong, because you act as if you are superior. Bad bad bad.
QUOTE
However, we considered that this was not a new occurence to mac users
Another horrible assumption. Mac users do not enjoy being crashed and they do not treat it as a regular occurance.

I strongly suggest you edit those two lines. smile.gif

Actually macs crashed on a bunch of maps. pinch.gif
It is sometimes a regular occurance.

Spoken like a true person who has never actually used a mac. They own at media, interface, and I prefer their programming styles. (Codewarrior is so much more sexy on a mac biggrin.gif ) PC's are good at games and getting raped by malevolent programs.
I use both mac and PC regularly, and I like the mac better.

I voted no. Wouldn't call myself a betrayer though, nonetheless. Blizzard is going to patch this, whether you like it or not. Bug fixes, new features, melee balance > EUD, sorry to say. Just going to have to cope with the changing EUD memory adresses I suppose.

Balance fixes like oh-so-wonderful patch 1.13... which solved the incredibly important issue of whether the enemy units show up on top of mine in the minimap?

Or the incredible balance fixing of Patch 1.12, which added MINIMAP PINGS!

[/sarcasm]

Signed.
