Staredit Network

There is a rumor going around that someone successfully made a virus map and sent it into Blizzard. It is unknown if this is true, or the method used to do this. I was refering to Death Triggers in the other news post, but it is possible that other areas may not be limited as death triggers are.

However, it has not been reported as a fact and is not known. Blizzard has not made a comment at this time, likely meaning that there is no worry or risk at this time.

There are a few things that Blizzard could do in the future:
1. Decide that EUDs are too much of a risk and patch it out. Yes, it would anger many people, but its blizzards game, and they're paid to look out whats in our best interests. If they think it should be patched, we should be disappointed but not vengeful.
2. Blizzard may reasearch it and decide, its not a problem, and not release a new patch for it. Hopefully at this point, some of the blizzard staff may come out and tell us that there is no risk involved in this.
3. Some rumor is going around that Blizzard may add some of these features as a standard Staredit & Starcraft trigger(s) to support macs as well. I personally think it won't happen, seeing how Starcraft is extremely old and now everyones going to need patch 1.14 to play these new maps. But hey, I'm just listing what I've seen and heard, its always possible.

At this point, this is all I know.

UPDATE: There is no point in freaking out, as this is purely rumor. I'm putting it here as FYI because people want to know this kind of stuff. If I get any kind of confirmation on anything, you'll see it on the news portal.

God, I hope they don't patch this. This could change so much.

Maybe they should just patch the harmfull trick's, And leave the usefull ones.

I said that, because so many people are freaking out and saying so many negative things about blizzard and what they're going to do if they patch it. Its just a stupid little glitch, we'll get on with our "mapping lives" without it.

See, give people a little more power and they can't live without it...

Everyone should go back and try to make something decent with just StarEdit every now and then, just to stay grounded. In fact, try to make something using only StarEdit that runs on normal SC. It's possible to do more than you think without super-editors and god triggers. After seeing the limitations, though, people should be a lot more grateful for what they have got.

How many patches has STaredit.net forced Blizzard to release?

Its rumor. I've heard it on communities and a few people. It has a good chance of not being valid, which is why its a "rumor", but I want to inform you all anyway.

No, SEN doesn't support this. We were using EUD's for good. Its kindof like the Bittorrent protocol. Its a wonderful thing which is really awesome, but people exposed it to downloading warez and whatever. The person who orginally made Bittorrent is not at fault.

We don't NEED these new trigs. But you got to admit though, they sure would help us out a lot.

theys triggers are usless to the fact that they change so much that it dosent even matter if the sprite looks like what it dose
the wire frame changes
the speed changes
the attack changes

those 3 things can be fixed by just makeing that unit!

Damn.. if the EUD triggers are removed, my diablo 2 map will be cancelled... because the map will be using many EUD trigggers so it can't do without it.

well, its a safe bet that it will be patched next patch, however the question is whether they will accelerate the patching scedule for this.

I am all for #3 and have tried to push it, however it is very very unlikely.

i dont play many games online anyway, like ill play the occasional defence, and some uberena, but mainly i just see other ppl from sens maps, and tests and stuff...

... You obviously don't see the different amounts of things that can be done with these triggers, and the maps that could be created

Just because you can't come up with a good idea for a map that uses one of the new discoveries other than detecting unit HP and units with shields, doesn't mean they are useless.
