No, it isn't fake. Starcraft is pretty big in Korea, and some people are obsessed with online gaming there, just like MMORPGs are big in China. There was also a story about how this guy killed a friend of his because he sold a rare item he lent to him. O.O
Addition: The guy probably had high hopes of becoming a pro-gamer if he practiced enough.
