Today, while hang in Op Sen, I recieved a strange Message from a User of Wc3.
He asked me if I wanted a Map Unprotector: Here go the convo:
He telling me that he've been working on Proedit Alpha.
He telling that a website full of Unprotected map will be there soon.
Now:
1. Who he was?
2. There is an Unproedit?
3. Which map are going to be Unprotected?
4. Who is using it?
Now... i dunno if it was a Prank... but i'm affraid for our Map Protection.
UnProEdit was a joke of long ago.
Maybe it's now a reality.
And now we have UberEdit. Rest easy at night.
I'm currently updating it again. It's pretty buggy this version. I have recieved notice that they it will delete like most of your strings... Just hold out until later this week.
Did you /ignore him to see if it was anyone in the channel? If not, you are dumb. It show who else is him and if he was someones bot. If I see this person, I will ask him about it, and if he is advertising unprotectors in our channel, I will ban him.
Yeah this is stupid. Just ignore people like him.
This proves how badly WC3 corrupts the minds of innocent people

No it doesn't, people who get corrupted weren't innocent from the first place
If the guy was on the ProEdit alpha you should've asked him what languages Clokr_ spoke. If Clokr_ trusted him enough to let him in on the alpha he would have had to know alot about him.

If a trojan is what passes for a joke these days, then I don't know what's wrong with society.
Exactly what did happen with UnProEdit? I heard of it, but never wanted to DL it because people said it did naughty things to your computer.
*Couch* *Virus* *Cough*
It put itself in your registry and loaded alot of windows when you started your computer. It went something like "Map Unprotecting is Bad, this program will remind you of it every day"

so it was pretty much a virus teaching you a lesson lol?
I'm not sure of the exact definition of a virus, but I'm pretty sure not.
As he said, all it does it set itself to load on startup, and then rapidly opens dozens of copies of itself.
not an official definition, but a virus is any unwanted program on acomputer that can cause any componant, especialy software to stoping working properly, or stop working the way the owner wants if the owner prefers a green tint to his moniter like warhamma.
Actually it had a timer that would ensure that at each check - IE a couple of seconds you had enough of the windows showing it, to get rid of it would mean removing it from the start menu, normally through Safe Mode.
Even if something like that is made, you'll have the reassurance that I'll do my best to ban map stealers that attempt to steal credit and submit maps to this site. Thus far, I've banned many stealers and deleted all files they would have submitted.
Some people argue, they learn by unprotecting maps. We have a trigger viewer for that, which will soon expand.
Other people argue, they should have the right to unprotect and edit maps to put them in favour of winning, or fix bugs that may be in there.
I don't often see a map where bugs are fixed and the orginal author credits are retained. People think as soon as they fire up staredit and change 3 triggers, they own the map.
Think of it this way. You work on an essay for school for a week every night. You put lots of hard work into it and can't wait to read it to your class because you've done such a great job. When you're not looking, someone you don't know takes the essay, edits 3 lines of it, and scraches out their name and puts on theres.
If you REALLY want to fix bugs on a map or rig it, here's an idea: recreate it. The Map making community does not consider borrowing another map maker's idea and improving it "stealing". If everyone unprotected maps and edited them, then we'd have the same boring maps with stupid variations, and most of the time, you wouldn't know if you're downloading a non rigged version that you like or hate.

Yeah map unprotecting is stupid, if you want to fix bugs join UED77's team, if you want to learn read some tutorials, use trig viewer or ask the mapper.
lol, I had a strange feeling you were Sessase.
Wesmic can you please explain that a bit more? Why would you think I was Sessasse?
I was talking about Exhaust, sorry.

Clokr_ was the only one that worked on ProEdit.
And I think he made UnProEdit, but i'm not entirely sure. I heard about UnProEdit a long time ago....
Yeah, it did naughty things to your computer.
