Here's the story:
BF 2242: WWIII
Argyzstan / Europe
Argyzstan, by the year 2240, had taken over all of Europe and about one-fourth of Asia. Its residents considered themselves physically and intellectually superior to all other residents of the world. After all, it was their stockpile of Weapons of Mass Destruction that had made this all happen. The Argyzstanians had at first concentrated their efforts on convincing the people of Europe that they had peaceful intentions.
Argyzstan had been created by a group of determined, darkminded millionaires and generals who had had thousands of tons of recycled steel and land, as well as building rubble and undersea magma emissions, dumped all together into the Caspian Sea. After molding and reinforcing it with neosteel and Plexiglas, they had created a medium-size country.
Its neighboring countries; Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan, Azerbaijan, Iran, and Russia; were extremely wary of the new country that appeared practically overnight in their midst, but after a while Argyzstan was accepted as a perfectly peaceful country. Though the implications of an entirely new country being made were still working their way through several world courts a few years later, at the time Argyzstan had all the powers of a sovereign nation.
The first missiles wiped off the map France, Britain, Moscow, and most of Italy. Black ops assassins stealthily, swiftly murdered the leaders of West Germany, Bulgaria, Spain, Ireland, and Poland. Without them, the other, smaller countries began to panic and one by one to fall. Though several countries pleaded neutrality, this was ignored as they too were invaded by Argyzstan's troops.
Members of the still-functioning Baath Party, as well as Al-Qaeda terrorists, helped Argyzstan gain temporary control of the Middle East, but soon lost it when, fearful of the power oil could bring the Argyzstanians, three hundred suicide bombers leveled what was once called Baghdad. Jerusalem and then the rest of Israel were evacuated as Argyzstanian troops grew ever closer.
Extensive bombing raids continued over Europe until only small pockets of resistance fighters were left alive. Argyzstan soon acquired the alliances of Mongolia, Brazil, North Korea, Argentina, Saudi Arabia, China, Turkey, East Germany, Uruguay, and Vietnam, and took over parts of Canada and Antarctica (plus the Firestorm Isles). The 14 attacking nations became known as the WAF - - the World Assault Forces.

Asia
The Asians feared that they would be the next targets for the insane WAF. Thousands of Arabic and Pacific peoples migrated to North Africa and The American Empire, formerly the United States of America. Japan and China prepared to fight each other. Pakistan and India reluctantly put away their conflict in the face of war and readied their forces against the WAF. Asian fighting operations continued throughout the war.

Australia
In 2239, just before the war, Australia and New Zealand were nuked into oblivion due to a tragic mix-up of the words "Austria" and "Australia" in a terrorism threat to The American Empire. Many experts still believe that the WAF had something to do with the mistranslation of the coded message between two European officials. However, late in the war, battles yet raged across the radioactive plains of Oceania.

Canada
Due to a chemical explosion in 2241 in northeast Canada, millions of Canadians fled to South America and Mexico (now called Aztlan). The WAF seized the opportunity and built several fortresses and armories in northeastern Canada, calling it Schaefer Base, so as to gain a valuable location with which to attack the American Empire from.

Africa
The Africans, shocked by the sudden deluge of Asians, abandoned much of their tribal society and become the (mostly) autonomous Republic of Africa. Within two years, the Africans had several huge cities and powerful aircraft factories. Most of the large air battles were fought in Africa because of this.

The American Empire
Since 2005, the United States of America had become an empire, conquering the areas of Cuba, Iraq, Newfoundland, Siberia, Colombia, Madagascar and Bolivia. It had maintained a gargantuan army, navy, air force, armor guard, and marines. Although the Empire attempted to remain neutral, when its ally Japan was attacked and Britain and France were annihilated, it took strong action in preparing for war.

Antarctica
Several Empiric colonization attempts were made in Antarctica, but due to the growing hole in the ozone layer, very few were permanent. These few colonies did, though, band together to give a stiff resistance to the WAF troops' invasion and attempt to gain an Antarctican foothold.

Space
Empiric and Russian Space Platforms and lunar colonies were swiftly invaded by WAF galaxnauts (or space warriors). The underpowered Empire managed to send a few space carriers and warcruisers up to defend the areas.

The resistance forces became known as the CDF, or Consolidated Defense Forces.

In World War Three: Battlefield 2242, you play as a CDF soldier or WAF commando. Fight in the bombed-out ruins of Europe, wasteland of Australia, ice plains of Antarctica and Canada, the jungles and deserts of Africa and Asia, the space platforms and installations of the space colonies, and the cities of the Empire and Argyzstan.
You decide the fate of the world...

VEHICLES

A62 Devastator -- a small tank supported not by treads but by four hoverpads that allow it to float inches above the ground. It has a single laser cannon and has room for a gunner/pilot and one passenger.
Crusher IV -- a gargantuan tank with two huge hoverpads. The Crusher IV sports a double laser cannon and twin Compressed Incineration Weapons. It can hold a passenger, a pilot/main gunner, and a CIW gunner.
MT2 Wasp -- a speedy little hoverbike which carries multiple missile launchers. Holds one.
Ford Pickup -- Though hoverbikes and hovercars are the main forms of land transportation in 2242, tracked and wheeled vehicles still exist. Abandoned Ford trucks (Ford, GM, and Toyota being the only surviving automobile manufacturers of the day) are often found near battlefields, occasionally outfitted with an improvised machine gun. Fords hold a driver and a passenger (or gunner, as the case may be).
Hanomag AHC -- large armored hover-carrier, manufactured by the same German company that created the innovative Hanomag APC in WWII. Grenade launchers are attached to its front end. Carries four passengers, a driver, and a machine-gunner.
El Muerto Fighter Plane -- an African-made plane with twin air-to-air lasers. Holds a pilot and a gunner.
LZ-1290 War-Blimp -- humongous zeppelin that is capable of dropping bombs and has a hose-like plasma gun for air battles. Carries six: four passengers, pilot/bomber, and plasma gunner.

ARTILLERY

YN3K Stationary Laser Cannon -- a much larger version of the WAF Lasertrooper's YN3K Portable Laser Cannon. Much like the Defgun in earlier Battlefields.
Full-Scale Mortar -- a larger version of the WAF Defense Engineer's Portable Mortar.
Mobile FlakCannon -- a movable antiaircraft twin cannon that can be adjusted to fire upon ground or sea forces.
White Phosphorus Dropper -- neosteel container that hovers over battle scenes and can be accessed via ladder to activate, dropping burning white phosphorus onto enemies.
Antiaircraft Artillery -- stationary AA emplacement.
MG Emplacement -- stationary machine gun.
Bunker -- large stone or metal fortified structure, often filled with medikits, ammunition, tools, mounted gun emplacements overlooking windows, or sometimes a ceiling hole for attacking planes. Sometimes, fortified buildings can be considered bunkers, as they are virtually indestructible.
Nuclear Missile -- a bunkerlike pillbox building that must be entered by at least ten troops of the same side. The missile can then be launched from the top of the building. Unfortunately, there is no aimer; the missile is simply launched forward from the direction it is facing.

NEW COUNTRIES

NORTH AMERICA
Western Canada -- Due to a chemical explosion in 2241 in northeast Canada, millions of Canadians fled to South America and Mexico (now called Aztlan). Western Canada was unaffected and adopted as its capital Winnipeg.
Eastern Canada -- Eastern Canada became a wasteland incapable of supporting life. Toronto, though it would actually be unaffected, was abandoned, along with Ottawa. Within two months, Eastern Canada's population was around 500. A year later, it was zero.
Schaefer Base -- Argyzstan took advantage of the explosion and created a colossal base near Newfoundland. It took the abandoned city of Sept-Iles as its capital.
The American Empire -- Since 2005, the United States of America had become an empire, conquering the areas of Cuba, Iraq, Newfoundland, Siberia, Colombia, Madagascar and Bolivia.

EURASIA
West Germany -- Another Nazi uprising in Germany, this time also including Fascists, anarchists, and other radical groups, split the country in two. Munich was the larger West Germany's capital. West Germany became a part of the CDF.
East Germany -- Tiny East Germany was a threat to the other world powers, especially with Berlin in Neo-Nazi hands. Therefore it joined the WAF immediately.
Argyzstan -- Argyzstan was created by a group of determined, darkminded millionaires and generals who had thousands of tons of recycled steel and land, as well as building rubble and undersea magma emissions, dumped all together into the Caspian Sea. After molding and reinforcing it with neosteel and Plexiglas, they had created a medium-size country.
Karachi -- The problem of Karachi's ownership was solved when Karachi's citizens rebelled and formed their own city-state, much like San Marino or Vatican City. Like Pakistan and India, Karachi sided with the CDF.

OCEANIA
Firestorm Isles -- Formerly a trio of French territories, the Crozets, these Indian Ocean islands were taken over and renamed by Argyzstan. The capital, Thunderstrike, then began turning out weapons for the WAF.

ANTARCTICA
New Washington -- A series of Empiric colonies became a small nation in western Antarctica. The biggest colony was Amundsen-Scott Station. Another large one was Johnston Base.
Walker Base -- Argyzstan created another gigantic base-country, this time in central-northern Antarctica, taking over the Russian station of Fimbul.
Hyperion -- The remaining hinterlands in Antarctica soon came to be called this.

AFRICA
La Republica de Africa -- The Africans abandoned much of their tribal society and became the (mostly) autonomous Republic of Africa. Within two years, the Africans had several huge cities and powerful aircraft factories. By popular agreement, the capital became Cairo.
