I just got an iRiver (its a music player) for my birthday, and my parents said they'll fund a short subscription to a music download site as well. What is the best in your opinion, and why?
An added note: Please keep it legal.
Well, its not a site but I prefer DC++ sharing system. It is legal but still piracy. What I call it is legal piracy. I can get anything and everything on DC++ for free (Music, Movies, Games, soft.....).
Sorry, but that's illiegal... You're still stealing copyrighted stuff.
I like iTunes... HUGE selection, and you're actually buying the song, not leasing it like other sites... *Cough* *Rhapsody* *Cough*
Yea, from what I've read a lot of sites lease the music to you.

The program itself IS legal. And mr. copyright law is different in different countries. In Latvia we have the big fight agains piracy once in a year but at the same time a big company sponsors the biggest DC++ server around. Shops are flooded with LEGAL translated games from Russia that costs 1/8 of the original price. Its pointless to not use stuff like that here. And its pretty hard to get legal games here, Its easier to go to my personal pirate and request stuff there or use DC++. But the program is still legal, illegal is the way everybody uses it.
I prefer to delineate between songs and music. Music requires skill to play.
*waits for flame*
Music to me may be mere songs to you, but I highly doubt you can keep up with my stuff
I would go for iTunes, although it doesn't have some of the stuff I would like it to have (Led Zeppelin).
You do get movie trailers, music videos, audiobooks and stuff though.
I use WinMX which is a LEGAL File Sharing program. Where you can get Music, Videos, Pics, Archives and alot of cool stuff. (Archives can carry viruses tho)
I say Itunes, it's easy to load stuff to Ipods and it'll play songs you ripped from an album you own and has a good playlist system and burning CDs. w00t w00t.
limewire is the best file SHARING program so its not illegal
www.walmart.com is the cheapest I find for buying songs...
Limewire is legal, some people use it for illegal purposes.
(To tell you the truth, i actually only download songs when i dont feel like looking for the CD in that huge collection...)

Teachers tell me to share.
I just refure to buy a cd for one or two songs for 15-20$. That's why I use limewire. I'f i can find a legal way without paying, I look at limewire, no Itunes, I uninstalled that
.
Funny, all those P2P programs garuntee they are 100% legal.
Depends on how you use them.
In this case...I'd say go with iTunes. But I've never used it, don't listen to me.
iTunes is nice if you're willing to dish out the cash. Me, no, I'm too poor for that. I use "legal" ways to get it. Also, I don't think they can take back the songs once you buy them.
With Itunes you can fiind songs no other program can. I found a bunch on some local artists I like.
One of the things why I use sharing programs is that pretty much the only artists on there are popular ones, and popular artists get enough money to stay on top. I adimantly support small bands. It's the millionaires who deserve Limewire.
Limewire's like Robin Hood.
To be honest, iTunes is pretty cheap. $0.99 for a song isn't too bad.
The bad thing about downloading from the iTunes Store is that you can't share the songs with anyone else because they'll only work on the computer they were bought for.

? Not even on the mp3 players and such?
never use napster. when i got my creative zen micro i got a free 30 day subscription to napster. i tried it out and it seemed great because i could download as many songs as i wanted. but you couldnt burn any of them to a cd. they were protected with a license. also, when you cancel your subscription, you cant listen to ANY of the songs you downloaded from them. so now my mp3 player has 200+ songs that i cant even listen to. so basically, if you want to listen to your music you downloaded, you have to keep their subscription. if you dont then they terminate your license. now i have to download all of them illegally.
legally sucks
i think Itunes only works for the Ipods, not the Irivers.
