Staredit Network -> Lite Discussion -> My problem with an iPod!
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Forsaken on 2005-08-15 at 00:40:45
Well, I am pretty sure everyone knows what iPod's are. So, I was wondering if there are any better MP3 platers out there. The only reason I am bringing this up is because of the only reason I don't want an iPod. Which is:

The battery.

After a few years, the battery has to be replaced. Which, in reality, is VERY expensive to get another one. I think it is around $125-$150(US Dollars) to replace tha battery.

I want to know if anyone has a better solution? As in, a better MP3 player!

If so, can you provide a link, or at least a definition?

My brother went through the same problem. He bought an Ipod when it first came out (Like we always do to every machine), and of course it didnt work well after awhile...

Just go to that link.

The battery life is not that bad. I think in a couple of years the price of replacement will most likely fall due to the fact that improving technology = less costs.

So, as of now the iPod is the best thing? Or, am I mistaken?

No, gorillas with chainsaws attached to their arms and rocket launchers o ntheir back is the best. My friend recently had to replace his battery. It cost him 70 USD. Might be something to think about.

Well, I have an MP3 player. But, it sucks. It only hold about 2 hours of music. I want something that can take my entire library of music on the go. (About 35-40Gigs) So, that's why I need something that can hold a "BIG" load of music. Not some dinky 500MB Player.

Your mostly just paying the brand name for an iPod.. but ya, $59 for replacing the battery is a ripoff.

EDIT
And they even lowered it $40..

How big is it? I bet it's 512 MB or 1 GB.

You can buy up to a 40 gig ipod.

To quote Maddox: "iPod: This is one of those inventions that makes people say: "why didn't I think of that?" On news shows anyway. One of the anchors on FOX News said "now the music industry is waiting for someone to come along and invent the next iPod." Wow, if only I had thought of the bright idea of putting an mp3 player on a portable hard drive. Damn that's brilliant. I had that idea years ago. I also have another idea: a car that can fly. I will sue anyone who makes it." It's hardly amazing, extraordinary, or even a new idea. We have something that we can carry around and can playMP3 files... it's called a CD player. Yeah, bet you didn't realize that most songs on CDs are in MP3 format. I don't need huge libraries of music anyway, I don't need a playlist, I don't even want one. A CD has the entire album in the correct order of songs, and that's all I want.

I thought it went up to 80 gigs. 20, 40, and 80. Ah well...

the battery dies depending on usage. AND at what point you recharge it. If you keep recharging it at 50% eventually that will be all the battery power you'll be able to get.
If you use it every day and recharge it every day they say you'll get at least 500 days out of the battery, but reports have gone to say it can go for longer. If your warrenty is still covering you when it falls below 50% battery power then they will replace it for FREE! I know I bought the extended year plan. iPod is the way to go. You can organize songs on it, make playlists to listen to in stead of going to each individual song to listen to, even has solitare lol to play while you listen. Sure as hell kept me busy on my flight from philly to Austria.

Wooden iPod!

They just hafta face with wood, and have you spin the wheel, rather than touchpad. Seems pretty easy actually. I'd buy that over a plastic one (unless it was pink)
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Kashmir on 2005-08-23 at 16:06:36
only differance is that the wooden one would deteriate and my apple ipod won't. Its made of steel "iPod Mini (Blue)" They even had ppl yelling at apple for the fact they don't deteriate at garbage dumps.
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Kow on 2005-08-23 at 16:22:47
Just finish the wood. Like in the picture, it will last longer. I doubt that someone will keep it long enough to deteriorate.

[center]It's not real wood, you know... It's just a wood grain iPod skin.
I had a marvelous idea a few days ago... And iPod phone, it functions like an iPod, but you can change to phone mode. The scroll wheel becomes a roraty dialer. That'd be teh Nukwn, huh?
