Maybe this has been done before...
Sorry if it has, but on to the point:

Half-Life and Half-Life 2 are interwound with very interesting storylines if you care to look for it. Without a doubt everybody knows about te G-Man, but nobody knows who he is or why he's doing what he's doing. Nor do we know much else, since we play a manipulated pawn in both games and all of the expansions.

Questions:
A) Does Half-Life 2 take place on Earth?
B) If so, how far in the future is it?

I ask this because Half-Life was supposed to occur down here in New Mexico, around the time the game was actually released. Half-Life 2 seems like an alien world, not just futuristic. The citizens are completed used to Headcrabs, Zombies, and Antlions. All the technology in Half-Life 2 would take quite a while to develop and mass produceto the extent done in Half-Life 2.

C) What happen to Xen in Half-Life 2?

In Half-Life, you get to travel to and fro Xen, and meet all its inhabitants whether they be invading or vice versa. In Half-Life 2, the only things from Xen we encounter are Headcrabs and possibly Striders and Antlions. We don't even get to go to Xen in 2.

D) Where is the Combine getting their resources?

When all of the population revolts in City 17, it is highly probably that all te other cities would revolt. Therefore, the government of the cities has just lost its entire workforce. How do they supply the Combine Soldiers? I'm thinking his extraterrestial contact near the end of the game, but I could be wrong.

E) Who is Breen talking with?

In Half-Life, Gordon killed Nihilanth and freed the slaves (Vortigaunts). Therefore, Xen ought to be in total anarchy...

crazy.gif I'd write a lot more, but I got to get to school. Be back this afternoon.

A)Yes, it does. Last I checked, the only sapient life-forms on Xen were the Combine.

B)Far enough so that we have a Gravity Gun.

C)That's where the portal opened up, letting all the Headcrabs into Earth. And the Antlions. The Striders, I believe, came with the Combine.

D)Other planets, I'd imagine.

E)No idea.

Yea I missed the bus due to this...
Anyhow:

F) Who is Gman?

He's the one behind everything that's going on. But even that isn't true. At the end of Opposing Force he claerly states 'my employers'. So what is he, eactly? It's obvious he uses Xen portals to quickly and covertly do what he needs to be done. In Half-Life and Opposing Force, we can see him walking about, minding his own business. In opposing force, he saves your life and, nearing the end, starts messing with a bomb that you deactivated earlier (as seen through a window). In Half-Life 2, he is simply everywhere, watching you. Sometimes its rather obvious, but if you take the time to look through holes in walls and rubble, most of the time you'll see Gman walking by or staring back.

More later, homework now...

nope the black mesa inccident happened in our time, and in half life 2 it takes place just years later possibly 5 or 6 years. the grav gun was using technology the combine brought mixed with what we had. some aliens came from xen and some from the combine.

Xen is still there, if you pay attention to what they say it says that they do not need to travel to xen to teleport somewhere else. They made it completely skip that step. thats what they were testing at the beginning when you get zapped outside the lap by accident bcuz of that gay ass headcrap, lomar.

The combine gets there resources from their home planet. They can teleport from their planet and back but they cannot travel from one place ON EARTH to another place ON EARTH. only in between planets.

Breen at the end was talking to whoever controls this whole combine operation and the GMan. Its a whole plan. I bet they enticipated you taking out the combine ...

"Do you realize your contract went to the highest bidder?" - Breen
So he knows about G-Man?
I just beat Half-Life 1, yes using cheats.
G-Man says "The border-world, Xen, has been secured due to your efforts."
THis means G-Man and whoever is above him now control Xen. Bummer.
Yet, obviously G-man is very powerful. He can stop time and predict the future (so he knows exactly how to manipulate Gordon.)

Only 5 or 6 years?? I mean, it would take at least forty just to build all that stuff in City 17, unless they warped it in or something.

I played Area 51 (XBox version, not arcade) a while back, too. Um, there's a combine in it and it's just like this one. Same looks, similiar weapons. Wierd...

After beating Opposing Force, I can't help but wonder if Shepard will appear in the upcoming expansion pack...

And whatever happen to Gina and Green? They were in Decay and it seems like they die at the end, but in Redemtion, Gina can be seen before starting your mission. So obviously, she's alive and not trapped on Xen or dead.

Was Redpetion even considered an official part fo tghe storyline, though? Or Decay? They both strayed a bit (fact-wise) from Op For, Blu Shift, and Half Life...

it's Lamarr
HL2 is on earth in about 7-10 years
Striders = Combine

The Striders are like 'biotanks': they were genetically engineered by the Combine for use as heavy assault units.

I thought Striders were Xen / Combine cyborgs?
And I thought the Combine were entirely human; just a military government that dominated the world using Xen technology or something like that.
EDIT: Beat me to it cry.gif

The Combine airdrop them, so I doubt they'd be hostile towards them. It was probably a mistake. Like: 'Oops, didn't see you down there! You alright? Oh crap...'
