I wonder who made the first UMS on Battle.Net, not the first played one as those were likely Blizzard made, but first Public made,
No point trying to think WHO made it, because A, most of you weren't even old enough to really play it then, and second, who would?
I'm thinking it would be a map where you had infinite money and everything built instantly.
Forget complicated RPG's, and 255 upgrades, couldn't do that at this time.
Also maybe look towards, say a Arena form of game, where you just mass spawned something. I remember those being huge about 5 years ago.

The first one I ever played was like God vs. Satan or something along those lines, I recall saying "omfg wtfage is tehis!@!!??!!!!!!!!?"

... Dude it's probably some stupid pub map that had no gameplay at all and had crappy triggers, because some guy who just bought the game was messing around with the editor.
I think this discussion would be better if it was like "Which was the first ever UMS battle.net map that got popular." Like the first "fad".

That map is very new to these who was made for several years ago!
my brother (I_Eat_Penguins if anyone cares) helped to test the VERY first tower defense game. like the original version.
Fast build maps, infinite money would actually need a "trigger" which I'm sure no one knew if you are considering the "first map ever"

Stupid.
Tower defense was made like 1-2 years ago. We are talking about 1998 or around that time.
It was probably just some modified units placed in some terrain. No triggers would even be necessary except for the win/loss triggers.
Actually, with proper balance, such maps can be quite fun, as the different inter- (unit to unit) and intra- (ratios within unit) unit relationships being changed can really affect the gameplay. I still make such maps every now and then occasionally, in between "real" projects.
ATTACHMENT: AN EXAMPLE: Simple map...but fun to play, once you realize how quickly you can die, and to be on the lookout for stealth attacks. Playing keys are in formations (don't just walk around with all units) and in the use of cloaking / scan.
The first UMS Battle.net map was technically made by blizzard. So there.
personally i think TrueShakatis made the first war UMS map, CAT VS MOUSE MUAHHAHAHA
hmmm around the original starcraft days, i think it was "Bunker WARZ!" thats all i remember playing
Tower defense was NOT made 1-2 years ago. try 5-6 years ago.
This was the first Brood War UMS map.
