I would have made this a poll but because I don't post here too often I don't really know how...

Anyway, my question to you is:
Are name spoofers and programs that allow you to say stuff in SC (Cheat Enabled for example...) hacks?

Now, you're using a 3rd party program and all, but, provided all it can do is edit text or your name, does it give you an advantage in the game? It doesn't show you the map or anything, so, is it really a hack that shouldn't be used?

Discuss.

Its pretty much like Identity Theft. Your taking that name that some one has and making it seem like its the guy. BUT if it is a unused name that isnt register go ahead!

The thing with changing the color text, no thats hacking thats colorful! It gives more notice to other people. Maybe becuase the color stands out.

The thing like making the game saying Nuclear Launch Detected, Is possibly chaning the game play, but it scares people and making them think that some one acutally launched a nuke.

Macro pics like Jesus hates you. Is just some fun, its not changing game play but more for taunting and have some laughs.

But it can ruin the game for others because some cause everyone else to disconnect from b.net after the game is over. Other than it's fine as long as you don't impersonate.

Yes, but that would just end the discussion pretty quick.

someone spoofed their name to look like mine once pinch.gif
But i didn't really care much, just as long he didn't act like an wonderful friend in other games and such.
But yeah, I don't think its much of a threat as long as they STAY AWAY FROM MY NAME ranting.gif

Spoofers used to so common. I'd always see people chatting in color, spoofing names, all that stuff. Now I rarely see them being used, at most I see them once every 3 months. I don't get what Blizzard gets so mad about, as long as they don't do anything that affect gameplay, Blizzard should be fine with it.

The funniest thing was when me and 5 friends all joing a game and spoofed our names as IaMTeHReALGuY and joined the game at the exact time and constantly yelled at eachother wonderign who was the real one lol... Good Times...

Someone in op sen called Frozen-Flame kept spoofing mine and Wilhelm's name until he made it "Powerful_Esque". Programs like this could ruin someones reputation because of anger, revenge, or because they're just bored.

That's why you do /whois <insertname here> to see if it's actually the real person in the game.

I wouldn't say spoofers give an unfair advantage in melee, like in a 1v1. But spoofing is dumb anyway.
