When I go to unit properties and hit 'settings' the settings for that unit suddenly all become 0, I think thats a bug.

You're right. It only happens if you haven't opened the unit settings window the normal way (menu or toolbar button) since opening Starforge, though. So if you do that just once you won't run the risk of losing any settings.
