Stranded RPG

Your transporting a dangerous criminal to a top secret underwater prison, but he was underestimated in his psychic abilities, he managed to alter the ships course to an uncharcheted island inhabited by a small population of humans and wild animals, you scavenge some weapons from the damaged ship and now must find the prisoner and get the ship repaired...

Features:
- Items (Use, Give, Sell)
- Random battle (single player battling for up to 5 players at once)
- Banning (In case of noobs)
- Seperate enemies for each area
- Levels (Experience, seperate hp per level)
- Interactive enviroment (changes throughout game)
- Custom sounds
- Never level up the same way
- Quests
- Different characters (Balanced units, pros and cons for each)
- More to come, just read on...


Well how's that sound for a new RPG, any suggestions, feedback, critism. I'm open to all comments good, or bad. tongue.gif

sorry, but theres no fancy terrain, the map is only 128x128, but theres lotsa battles and the hero unit is blinded, i may make the map 256x256 but the sequel is, this is more of the introduction into the series tongue.gif

What do you mean that every levelup will be different?
Could you tell us more about experience and leveling?

Oh, and post the technical details happy.gif like terrain type, map size, number of players, length of gameplay etc.

lvl up system: most games use leaderboards for exp and lvls, same here, except that the exp one is EXP TO NEXT LEVEL, plus, ea lvl-up givs a random amount of upgrade points; meaning 1st lvl-up may get 2 up points and 2nd lvl-up could giv 4 upgrade points then only 1 for the 3rd lvl-up

and no, i was not thinking of perfect dark when i made this, i was thinking of FF, the whole blind thing came from the 1st map test, although the battles are plentiful, ranging 1-6 seconds between battles, may change tho, i found you can cover the map pretty quik, so the blind part makes the town seem big and the world.

i did this with no help wat so ever, just logged onto b.net via desktop and laptop to test all 5 players

sequel may require help, such as terrainers, i hav about 1/6 of the map custom terrain(grid sqr by grid sqr) and it took 1 month for that alone, monster amount of triggers, plus the current map was more to test the concepts i had, sequel will bring many more features, airships, spells, boats, alot similiar to FF, hense the random battles...

do you mean that you will make the upg points randomized? or diff for each level, also whats the different modes going to be like (like meele mode, FFA,) Well, sounds like its going to turn out good. biggrin.gif good luck

upg points randomized, in other words lets take the 1st lvl-up, u play once and u get 3 upg points the 1st lvl-up, u play a 2nd time, but ur 1st lvl-up u only get 1 upg ponit, then u play again and ur 1st lvl-up u get a wopping 5 upg points, thats wat i mean tongue.gif

the diff modes, ahh, its a new idea, im preplacin stacked minerals and gas, then once u beat the game, u can play Melee* mode(normal starcraft) exept its melee with a twist, terrain remains same, caves and such work as if playin through the RPG, town is gone tho, minerals and gas placed on actual map, and u play as if u were playin normal melee, the FFA** mode on the other hand, everyone starts off in the same place, then whenever 2 players come in contact with eachother, they start to fight head to head, then after a set amount of time or when all players come in contact, the game finishes with a battle royal tongue.gif

Melee* - pretty much 90% chance of being in map
FFA** - if there is time it will b added, could have to rewrite triggers though

good news and bad news

good news, is i will have screenshots once ive got some of the custom terrain areas done

bad news is due to time conflicts and new glitches that arose after opening and saving map in SCMDraft 2, debugging put me behind schedule, and being in school doesnt help either, so the Release date may b changed, i may just release a melee version of the map without the rpg but with triggers for caves etc.

now the update, since the release date could be moved back, i'm also thinking of adding a trance, after all this map was inspred by FF

Trance: another unit, the hero version possibly, will b used and have batter upgrades
pros: -helpful in boss battles tongue.gif
cons: -using EUD's for every percent of hp when switching could b lengthy disgust.gif

thats a very interesting concept.. i would hope you finish this map ^.^ please don't make it to basic.. some Rpg's should just be called... Basic Rpg.. that would be awsome.

thnx for the compliment, well this is far from basic, gameplay includes items, seperate battle areas and random battles, random level-ups, exp to nxt lvl leaderboard, choose units at start, hp max for ea lvl, melee mode, now tell me that thats basic, just tell me and ur put in the map using EUD's so u get banned as soon as you, well it could happen, prob not cuz im too lazy to open up uberation when i protect it and add a few simple triggers... dots.gif

Release Date changed to Oct. 10, 2005, from Sep. 29, 2005 (my b-day) due to glitches in triggering and balancing problems, it became like Overmind RPG, massive hard at start then way too easy. sorry guys

well, srry guys, but the vers that was released was bad, it only had battle triggers for player 1, and srry, but due to Editor switching, i was put bak 4 days, so some features wearnt implemented, but be sure in Stranded RPG 2 there will b all these features plus more, again srry, but atleast i back-up my map, it could have not been abcked up, then id b screwed... disgust.gif Did anyone actually look forward to the map, seriously, its a demo, so be truthful, plus no color, waste of time for the demo

people will play, just cuz no color dont mean it suk, plus this is more the concept map to test for Standed RPG II
