In my opinion, i think The Grudge is one of the scariest horror movies I've ever seen. That ghostly women is scary as hell in the beginning in the attic was just.... *shudders*
Movies like this that make you jump are the scariest to me.
If The Grudge wasn't remade about 5 times by the same director, I'd tend to agree. And then there' sthat whole "he ripped off Dark Water and Ringu" thing.
The scariest movie I've ever seen in Kiyoshi Kurosawa's Pulse. Its not one of those jumpy films like The Grudge, but more of a psychological thing that keaves you wanting to vomit due to tension.
Obviously it's 'Scary Movie'.
Horror movies that are based on true events (Ammityville Horror, etc.) scare me, not because of the content, but the fact that it really happened to actual people.

Of course, that movie was freaky!
I also hear that The Exorcist was based off a true story.
If it really was, then that TRULY is scary...
i liked the exorcist and expecially the exorcist the beginign they were both good... i dont really get scared,,, except the original exorcist is :censored:ing creepy if u watch it alone in the dark...

Anything alone in the dark is scary, especially alien movies.
Personally, I dont find movies in which you actually see the tangible "scary" thing (liek monsters, aliens, etc) as scary as movies which there are ghosts.
Wait, wait, then if movies are based on a true story wouldn't that make ghosts real.. -_-.THOSE LIARS!!!
Well, ringu was pretty scary. The original one, but I didn't see the english version before that.
"The house of 1000 corpses" made by Rob Zombie or "Resident eVil" first part of course.

The former is just disgusting, like crotch-needle man.
I liked The Exorcist. It's probably my favorite horror movie.
The Child's Play movies and The Thing (John Carpenter version) really scared me when I was younger... like two weeks ago lol
The Grudge isn't scary. It's just plain...
Creepy... It creeped me the
out! It didn't scare me, or cause me to have nightmares, it just creeped the hell out of me!
House of 1000 corpses isn't scary, it's just plain demented. So demented, it made me wanna puke at out :censored:ed up Rob Zombie is in the head.
The Ring. One of the most retarded shows ever created.
One movie or two, oh, even three that caused me to have nightmares when I was younger, were three Stephen King movies. The very first one I remember, was IT.
That show is the precurser to why I dispise clowns.
Stephen King's Salem's Lot. That show scared the bajesus out of me.
And then the last one. Pet Cemetary. That show, is :censored:ing frightening! Oh god!
*Runs in fear*

Ya, the thing kicks ass. Never got popular because it came out in theatres the same day as blade runner, which also, more importantly, came out 1 week right after ET. Cult classic wise, a lot of people hate it cause it's a "remake". Hey, just cause it's a remake doesn't mean it's not as good. Infact, it's a lot different from the original. (And a lot better as well)
The thing may not have been the most scary, but it has some of the most bad ass make up effects ever. Yes, they did do that retarded, hey let's split up, at the end, and I never quite understood the big ass hat, but come on! Other than that, the movie was great. Personally, I give it a 10 out of 10. Great :censored:ing movie.
mm.... odd.
I thought The Ring was freaken scary as heck. But then again, I watched it the first time during 12 am and ... oddly enough, 20 minutes after viewing the movie, the phone rang. >_<

The mans brother and his friend were watching late at night, right after the movie ended we took a cell phone and called his house, followed by me saying seven days. The nearly pissed themselves, it was awsome!
Horror movies arent scary once uve seen tons of em.
scariest movie i saw was the grudge. I hate the part where the lady turns into some weird monster and her mouth fell off our sumtin like that and her tounge was hanging. it was weird. But it was also kinda funny like where shes in the elevator and she has her eyes closed and in the backround you can see the little freaky grayy kid on every level she passes.
The Exorcist left the most lasting impression. The Grudge wasn't as scary for me.
I Didnt see the exorcist but i do know the original is the scariest movie ever made.
[sub]When I saw the grudge I had a girl around me the whole time, so I didnt really get to watch much. Saw is :censored:ing freaky, Im glad I havent been able to remember a dream since I was 8.

I hate the very beginning where the japanese social worker hears something in the attic then takes a peek inside with a lighter and when she slowly turns around, the ghost just appears behind her. The makers of the movie did an excellent job in making that lady ghost look scary as hell.
