What are your opinions about artists who cover songs? In my opinion, they are usually worse the second time around, especially with the remake of Under Pressure: By MCR and...some other band. Very rarely do I hear a good cover of songs. I heard some do Purple Haze by Jimi Hendrix under tempo and G-rated. That was ammusingly dumb ><

[center]'Jesus Doesn't Want Me For A Sunbeam': great cover by Nirvana of a Vaselines song. 'Badfish/Boss DJ': a great Sublime cover by Jack Johnson. (Sublime's former drummer even thinks so!)
But I agree with kame, it's almost never as good the second time around. This doesn't just apply to songs, either...

As long as the band mostly does their own songs (and thus, probably has their own style) it's okay. I enjoyed hearing the godfather theme on electric guitar when Guns 'n' Roses did it. If they're just trying to completly replicate the song doing nothing differently it's kinda stupid and pointless. Cover songs need to a new approach to feel worth it to me.
