Staredit Network -> Games -> Looking for some cheap PC games

Well, I went to Wal-Mart and there are a lot of great titles to choose from. So not only do I want to know what game is great, but if the price is worth it. So:

- Age of Empires + Rise of Rome ($10)
- Age of Empires 2 + Conquerors ($30)
- Age of Mythology + Titans ($30)
- Civilization III ($10)
- Civilization III + Play the World + that other e/p ($30)
- Empire Earth Gold ($20)
- Rise of Nations Gold ($30)

Other cool games:

- Psychonauts ($30)
- Call of Duty Gold ($30)
- Knights of the Old Republic ($20)
- Neverwinter Nights Gold ($20)
- Morrowind ($30)

Even $30 is a bit too high...

I'm looking for the game with the most value. I remember lots of great fun with AoE1. I really loved the fact that maps could be randomly generated, which other RTS games don't have. So give me your opinion and a GOOD reason why. I don't want to miss out on these classics.

Here are a few games that I liked. Not sure if you will like them, and I am also not sure what their prices are, but I will just throw these out there for you.

BattleField 1942

Dungeon Siege

Total War (Shogun, Medieval, Etc.)

Diablo II

WarCraft III

I can't think of any others at the moment, sorry.

I already have D2 and WC3. I don't like 1942 compared to CS. As for Total War, I'll get Rome when it gets cheaper.

So I'm wondering what about the list I made up? Any ones you like for their price?

I saw SC for $5 at Target... I think the battlechest was like $25 or something.

I haven't played any of those games except for Age of Empires: Age of Kings and Neverwinter Nights. I am assuming Age of Kings is similar to the others, so I will say it probably is pretty fun. Neverwinter Nights, I do not really remember it that well, since I haven't played in so long, sorry, I don't know what to tell you about it...

rofl I cant beleive Blizzards asking 5$ for it and 25$ for the battlechest. When i bought it, it was like twice as much maybe more...Anyone know how much D2 costs? I need to buy a new disk for both.

I got the Diablo battle chest for about 45 bucks including tax.
When I bought it I had like 50 some cents left out of all my money.

Not bad... alittle old. I'd say for 10 bucks, it's worth it. Like you said, randomly generated maps, and the campaigns provide good replay value.

Out of the 2, I prefer AoM. If you're going to get one, I think AoM is a better deal too, (newer game). If you have one, don't get the other. I think $30 is alittle much though, I didn't find too much replay value in it.

QUOTE
- Rise of Nations Gold ($30)

Rise of Nations is an excellent RTS. I highly reccomend it. The Conquer the World mode is EXCELLENT. (Think Risk meets an RTS). Good value.

QUOTE
- Knights of the Old Republic ($20)

KOTOR is a great game, really interactive, good storyline. If it's the PC version, it's worth the price... the X-Box version... ermm.gif

QUOTE
- Morrowind ($30)

Get the PC version of Morrowind instead. It's cheaper, and ALOT more fun. Especially since there's SO MANY MODS out for PC Morrowind. These mods can add hundreds of hours of gameplay to the original game (which had alot to begin with.)

If you buy PC Morrowind, get mods. You'll love them.

For a great RTS value, check out Outpost 2. It's free for download here: http://www.outpost-universe.net/op2dl/

It has 2 single-player campaigns with a great storyline, some other single player games, and good multiplayer. A few SEN members play it as well. IM me if you want to play a game. wink.gif

Rise of Nations is a good time killer (let's not forget fun).

I would suggest Empire Earth Gold. (that is what I bought smile.gif) I got my Empire Earth when it was about $60.

Or you can get the Age of empires set, also a good game.

Deus Ex, if you can find it. Cheap and fun, although not as much graphical kick.
AoE1 was a good game.

morrowind has to be one the greatest rpgs ever made, lets not forget oblivion coming out soon! smile.gif

Also neverwinter nights is a really good game especially since its mainly for multiplayer, yet it still has an awesome storyline.

i would go with morrowind for the PC.

It really depends which type of game you prefer. I would suggest going with Age of Empires I. $10 is good value considering the game is still quite playable and fun if a little old.

Yep, I picked it up. I really hate how you can only make 1 guy at a time from a building. In SC, you could make 5 marines at the same time at one barracks.

They still sell Warcraft 2 Battle Chest where I live..

Get EA Games package for 20$ you get these 4 games:
Black and White
Medal of Honr: Allied Assault
Freedom Fighters
LOTR: Return of the King

Although MOH and LOTR aren't that great, Freedom Fighters and B&W owns only for 20 dollars!!

Yeah, I heard B&W is teh sex!

I think Fable 1 is 2o$ for PC now, if you dont have THAT, you could get it. It's pretty replayable.
