Don't think you can change templates in invisionfree, but if you install it on a web space you can get a bunch from like http://www.invisionskins.com or http://www.invisionize.com.

I've had proboards once. They feel kind of lacking, but I would still rank them higher than invisionfree. Mainly because invisionfree has all the little tweaks that make a forum flashy and such and such. Proboards was a board I used to have with an older site.

But still, when i looked for forum software, my first choice would have been WW boards, or something like that, and next would be invision.. neither are free though.

I'll say that invision has a lot of flashy things right now if you look at 2.1. However, the things that really matter that makes an admins life easier are nowhere to be found. It's like building a city with poor electrical services. It may look attractive, but once you're in there, you realize there are problems.

Phpbb needs mods to achieve desired level.(attatchments, money system, custom titles)
SMF has a unique posting menu.. smilies in the wrong place (small problem)
And the attatchments are limited as well...
Never saw a clan forum made with Wow BB (not WW, i remembered
)
Therfore, i know nothing about its format..
